We had a blast presenting two great activities at the Fair this past weekend! โœจ Nearly 200 people signed their names to a copy of the Declaration of Independence using a real quill pen and ink made from blueberries. ๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿชถ

A huge thank you to the many volunteers and staff who helped educate our community about East Hampton history. ๐Ÿค—

The 2026 Annual Fair is taking place this Saturday, June 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with fun for all! ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŽ โœจ

The East Hampton Historical Society will be in attendance with activities for kids where they can sign their names on a copy of the Declaration of Independence using a real quill pen and natural ink, which we make with the kids using blueberries! ๐Ÿซ๐Ÿชถ

The process entails cooking the blueberries, with adult supervision, straining them through a sieve, adding vinegar and salt, and pouring the ink into bottles. Quills are prepared ahead by soaking the tips and then trimming the ends, then a slit is cut up the center to help soak up the ink. All that's left is to dip your quill and sign your name! ๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿ‘

The Fair has lots of exciting activities going on such as playland for the little ones, a silent auction, plants and flowers ๐ŸŒธ for sale, food trucks, sweet treats, hot dogs ๐ŸŒญ, live music, vintage clothing and jewelry, a mystery booth, chance raffle ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ and more. We hope to see everyone this Saturday!

We're welcoming in June with the newest episode of our ๐‘†๐‘๐‘–๐‘Ÿ๐‘–๐‘ก ๐‘œ๐‘“ '76 podcast titled, June 1776 โ€“ Suspicion in East Hampton Amidst a Wider War. ๐ŸŽ™๏ธโœจ

In June 1776, East Hamptonโ€™s wartime experience existed on two levels at once: dealing with security and suspicion at home while contributing to a conflict that stretched hundreds of miles beyond Eastern Long Island.

The East Hampton Town Marine Museum โš“๏ธ will remain closed this summer as the Town of East Hampton and the East Hampton Historical Society begin a comprehensive, multi-year renovation following significant winter damage caused by a burst pipe this past winter.

The project will include major building upgrades, restoration work, and updated exhibitions to help preserve and share East Hamptonโ€™s maritime history for future generations. ๐ŸŒŠ More updates to come as planning and renovations move forward.

In the meantime, The Claus Hoie Gallery of Whaling exhibit, which was installed in the Marine Museum in 2011, will be moved to the Clinton Academy for the season! ๐Ÿ‘ Inspired by antique whaling logs and East Hamptonโ€™s maritime history, Hoieโ€™s powerful paintings bring to life the stories of 19th-century whaling voyages that once departed from Sag Harbor. A nationally recognized artist with a career spanning more than 60 years, Hoieโ€™s work remains an important tribute to the East Endโ€™s deep connection to the sea. Stay tuned for more information on the Marine Museum renovation and the exhibit! โœจ
