Since our founding in 1895, the Ladiesโ Village Improvement Society has been dedicated to keeping East Hampton one of the most beautiful villages in America. We maintain our wonderful village trees and greens, provide scholar- ships to local high school students, preserve local landmarks, and provide community events and programming including our annual summer fair, Halloween and holiday open hous
es, Easter egg hunt, and so much more. The LVIS cares for over 3,500 trees shading the Villageโs streets and replaces those lost to disease or age. The LVIS also funds the maintenance of the village commons and greens surrounding Town Pond, and championed historic preservation efforts, including the creation of Village historic districts. For nearly 70 years, the LVIS has awarded college scholarships to East Hampton High School seniors and to adult women returning to college. This year, despite the impact of Covid on our fundraising, we awarded over $190,000 in scholarships to 24 students. LVIS strives to make East Hampton the best place to live in America. Your support will ensure the continuation of our efforts to support our community and enhance the lives our residents and visitors. LVIS is located at 95 Main Street in the historic Gardiner Brown House. The grounds are open to the public and our thrift shops are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm where you can find a wonderful selection of menโs and womenโs clothing, books, housewares, furniture, artwork and more. None of what we do would be possible without thousands of hours of work by our volunteers, both members and nonmembers. When you work with the LVIS, you join a vibrant organization of people committed to strengthening our community. We are always looking for new members, and we also welcome volunteers and hope youโll consider joining us. Please consider volunteering, donating gently used merchandise to our shops and attending our community events.
