Standish Humane Society Every year, we help thousands of cats and kittens through adoptions, Trap-Neuter-Release, low-cost spay & neuter assistance, and more.

ADOPTED Nadine, tabby, was adopted by a wom looking for a friendly female to be a companion for her 4-year-old dog. Nadine jumped out of her cage purring. She was the perfect balance of affection and playfulness. The adopter knew within minutes of meeting her that she was the one.
Darcy, gray/wh, and Zeke, orange/wh, went home together with a couple looking for two kittens. Darcy stretched out, loving all the attention. Zeke was so relaxed that he fell asleep purring while being pet. These two kittens have come a long way, and now they have two people to shower them with lots of love in their new home.
Also adopted are Kinifi, Riley and Rowan, and many others from our foster homes. CONGRATULATIONS

Meet Spike 🐈‍⬛

Spike is 10 months old and he greets everyone like they're his new best friend. 🧡

He was found living outside, but you'd never guess it. He's friendly, playful, and happy to meet just about anyone. He also does well with other cats after a proper introduction.

The only thing he's missing is a person of his own. Someone to play with, hang out with, and come home to.

Thackery Binx is a handsome, mostly black kitten with a few charming finishing touches: a small white patch under his chin and little white tips on his back toes. He’s a friendly boy, but make no mistake, playtime comes first! Thackery is the “play first, ask questions never” type of kitten, and he’ll happily dive into any game you have to offer. Affection is on his list too, just a little further down than his toys.
Thackery has been around dogs and will approach them with curiosity as long as they’re calm. He’s looking for a forever home that already has a pet.

Fox is 2, he's a tuxedo, and those eyes are even better in person. 🖤

He was found living outside and was being cared for by a kind feeder, so it’s no surprise that he needs a little time to feel safe and comfortable in new surroundings.

Once he does, he's a total sweetheart. Expect head bumps, lots of affection, and a cat who sticks close once he's picked his people.

Cherry is a petite 1-year-old girl who was left outside when her family moved. Luckily, she found her way to the home of a Standish volunteer, where she is now safe and learning that people can be trusted.
Cherry is a sweet girl who understandably takes a little time to warm up. Once she feels comfortable, her playful personality starts to shine! She especially enjoys playing hide-and-seek with the other foster cats, so with a proper introduction, we think she may do well with a feline friend. And Cherry is definitely a little rebel—she proudly wears her adorable white boots and toe shoes after Labor Day!

Riley and Rowan are a pair of 5-month-old kittens looking for a forever home together! Both boys have plenty of that fun kitten spark and love nothing more than a good play session. Riley, a big, beautiful boy, is crazy about wand toys and will happily show off his impressive pouncing skills whenever one comes out. Rowan loves to chase after his favorite toys just as much.

Once playtime is over, their sweet sides shine through. Riley is eager to curl up right on your lap and purr the day away, while Rowan can be very affectionate with his trusted people. Like many sensitive young cats, Rowan needs a little time to get comfortable and come out of his shell, so he'll do best with a patient adopter who gives him the space to settle in at his own pace.

These two are looking for a home with plenty of interactive playtime, lots of lap snuggles, and a little patience. Once they know they're safe, you'll be rewarded with two loyal, loving, and playful companions for life!

So many of you tell us you wish you could do more for the cats. That means the world to us.

If you're looking for ways to help, we have an idea: start a Facebook Fundraiser for Standish. You can do it in memory of a pet you've lost, for your birthday instead of gifts, or just because.

When you share a fundraiser with your friends and family, it reaches people who may never have heard of us. Every one of them is a new person who can help, whether by adopting, fostering, volunteering, or spreading the word. And the money raised goes straight to the cats' care.

ADOPTED Meadow, tabby, was adopted by a couple who have raised a variety of animals but currently have none. They were looking for a companion to keep them company, and Meadow charmed the adopters with her sweet, gentle personality. They know that Meadow is slow to adjust and are willing to be patient as she becomes acclimated.
Sangria, tabby, went home with a mom, dad and 2 children. The family was looking for an affectionate cat, and Sangria was the perfect match. She was purring and in the seven-year-old's lap as soon as he sat down. Sangria enjoyed the attention from the entire family.
Naylah, calico, was chosen by a teenage girl to be her first cat. Naylah was playful and accepted lots of pets. The teenager was looking for an energetic, affectionate personality, and Naylah was the perfect match. She will be treated like the true princess she is.
Dahlia, orange, was adopted by a couple with no pets at home. They saw Dahlia on the website, and after meeting her, were sure she was the one. They are excited to have this new addition and know that she may need extra time to get used to her new environment. Dahlia is going to have a wonderful life.
Along with these lucky cats, many kittens have gone home to their forever homes.

🚨 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

Please stop asking our volunteers why they're walking around hunched over. It's Colette. It's always Colette. 🐾

Colette is a confident, sassy 1yo calico who has looked at the concept of personal space and said "no thank you." Our volunteers bend down for ONE second to refill a water bowl and suddenly they're wearing a cat. Exhibit A, B and C attached.

She's not a lap cat. Colette prefers the executive suite, where she can supervise everything going on, weigh in on all decisions, and make direct eye contact with whoever is holding the camera.

What Colette is looking for:
✅ A home without other pets
✅ A home with room to explore, climb and investigate (she has a busy little mind and many important inspections to conduct)
✅ People who want a buddy right in the middle of the action
✅ Shoulders. Decent posture optional.

What Colette is NOT looking for:
❌ A quiet life of gentle lap naps
❌ Anyone who believes in "boundaries"

Honestly, we can't believe she's still here. She's funny, bold, beautiful and has never once been bored. If you want a cat who will keep life interesting (and occasionally ride on you like a tiny parrot), Colette might just be your girl. 💛
