Buddy and Friends Animal Rescue "To rescue, is to heal a heart that we didn’t break.”
501(c)3, All volunteer run, Animal Rescue organization based in Pembroke, MA.

Buddy & Friends Animal Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, all-volunteer organization based in Pembroke, MA. We rely solely on the backbone of our rescue which is fosters and volunteers. We exist to rescue and re-home dogs that would not have a chance otherwise. We are the voice for the voiceless. We take pride in educating the public on rescue dogs and the spay/neuter crisis in the south. We pull animals from McNairy Humane Society in TN. Each year, approximately 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized (670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats). Our end goal is the same of many other rescues to provide a furever happy home to our animals. We pull animals from McNairy Humane Society in TN!

Meet the Crew Monday!

Barbara is one of our cherished dog walking volunteers in the Buddy & Friends family. She regularly picks up multiple shifts, helps handle our pups at adoption events, and even takes dogs out for car rides so they can enjoy a change of scenery and some one-on-one time. She is careful, thoughtful, and follows every direction to the letter, because she knows how much consistency matters to a dog still learning to trust. And she’s always asking how she can do more and eager to learn new ways to support each dog she works with.

When we asked Barbara why she loves volunteering with us, she said walking our dogs simply brings her joy. After a 38-year career in customer service, she sought something meaningful in retirement, a role that would keep her mind engaged without the stress. She found it here.

Barbara shared that our dogs need patience, love, and attention tailored to their individual stories, and it's true! Many of them arrived after just being discarded by humans and she believes our volunteers have an important job: showing these dogs that they’re finally safe, and that they’re surrounded by kind, caring people who love them.

Barbara, that is exactly what you do.

Thank you for your time, your gentleness, your attention to detail, and your endless curiosity for knowledge. We are so grateful to have you on our team!

🐾 Sophie is LOVING life in Massachusetts! ❤️

Just one week ago, Sophie arrived in MA, and she is already thriving in her foster home! 🥹

This sweet girl is a 26-pound Lab mix born on June 26, 2026, and she is everything you could want in a puppy!

❤️ LOVES kids!
🐾 Doing great with her foster siblings!
🧸 Obsessed with toys!
🥰 Never says no to couch snuggles!

Like any puppy, Sophie is still learning the ropes and working on her puppy manners, but she's off to a wonderful start!

Now all this little lady needs is a family to call her own. Could that be you? 🏡❤️

🐾 A Little Spotlight for Our Rescue Pups! 📰❤️

A HUGE thank you to the Plympton-Halifax-Kingston Express for giving our adoptable dogs a special place in their paper every week!

Every Friday, “Fur-Ever Fridays with Buddy” shines a spotlight on one of our incredible dogs waiting for their forever home. 🐶

Sometimes, all it takes is one person seeing one photo to change a dog’s entire life. ❤️

Rescue truly takes a village, and we’re so grateful to have the Express helping us give these dogs the visibility and second chances they deserve.

🐾😂 INTERACTIVE SATURDAY! 😂🐾

Your dog suddenly learns how to TALK.

You get to ask them ONE question… and they HAVE to tell you the truth. 👀🐶

What are you asking?!

“Who actually destroyed the couch?”

“Why do you stare at me while I sleep?”

“What do you REALLY do when I leave the house?”

“Do you actually love me… or am I just the person with the snacks?” 😂

We KNOW you all have at least one question you’ve been dying to get an answer to.

Drop yours in the comments! 👇🐾

Choose wisely… you only get ONE. 😂
