VFW Scout of the Year Scholarship Contest
Applications due by March 1, 2026
The Marshfield Daniel Webster VFW Post 8345 has announced the 2026 Scout of the Year Scholarship Contest. Local entries are due by March 1, 2026.
This contest is open to Scouts who are registered, active members of a Scouting America or Girl Scouts of the USA Troop, Venturing Crew, or a Sea Scout Ship who have received the Eagle Scout Award, Girl Scout Gold Award, Venture Summit Award or Sea Scout Quartermaster Award.
There is no minimum age requirement for applicants as long as all other eligibility criteria have been met.
The maximum age requirement for applicants is 18 years old. If an applicant reaches their 18th birthday during the nomination year they remain eligible as long as they are still in high school at the time of the submission deadline.
Scouts throughout Massachusetts are invited to enter. Last year’s Post 8345 winner was Alyssa Budd, Eagle Scout with Marshfield Troop 424. Alyssa went on to become the statewide Massachusetts Department Scout of the Year.
Local winners will advance to the District level. District-level winners will advance to the Department (Massachusetts) level. Department-level winners will advance to the National level. Prizes are awarded at all levels.

Entries may be submitted in person to the bartender at the Marshfield VFW at 655 Main Street (Route 3A) in Marshfield, or via USPS to Keith Demers, Marshfield VFW Auxiliary Scout of the Year Scholarship Contest Chair, at 47 Olde Stage Stop Village, Marshfield MA 02050.
