Help us collect canned Fruit for Chum! We have been challenged by CHUM to gather 700 cans of fruit to give out in their Thanksgiving baskets!
Bring your favorite fruit to make a rainbow!
Cans may be dropped off at church anytime through October 25th, when we will gather and bless them during our annual Reverse Trick or Treat!

Chum's Stepping On Up will be co-presenting two forums on October 13th and October 20th alongside with The Affordable Housing Coalition of Duluth (AHC) and the American Indian Community Housing Organization (AICHO). Mark your calendars to hear county and state candidates speak about their stances on homeless programs and affordable housing.

This past year, Chum's Steve O'Neil Apartments launched Katie's Closet, a completely free clothing store for families transitioning from homelessness into permanent housing. A passion project created by Katie, SONA's ECFE teacher, the closet offers stylish clothing and has garnered donations from our generous community to make this program possible.

Thank you to those who have already donated, and for those who have donations to give, consider Katie's Closet for all your lightly used, stylish clothing 🌞

EDIT: Currently looking for adult socks and adult underwear (new), kids and teen clothes, and Halloween costumes. Clothes can be brought to the Steve O'Neil Apartments from 9am-4pm.

Your favorite sock-wearing pumpkins are back for the 2nd Annual Socktober! Drop off a pair (or two) of socks to our designated drop-off locations throughout the month of October for those who need a little extra warmth this coming cold season.

School's back in session, and so is Stepping On Up's Monthly Education Series! From 9-11am on the first Thursdays of each month, Trinity Lutheran and Stepping On Up hosts a free presentation (along with an free optional breakfast at 8:30am) about experiences and education surrounding at-risk communities.

This month, Grace Jesch, Education and Engagement Coordinator at Safe Haven Shelter and Resource Center, will be speaking on how community members can recognize signs of domestic violence and learn how to best support and empower survivors in both big and small ways that can truly make a difference. Attendees will better understand the scope and impact of domestic violence in our communities, ways to support someone who is experiencing abuse, and resources available for survivors.

A reminder that tomorrow is Produce Friday at Chum! Stop by from 10am-noon at our downtown location to pick-up some locally grown produce. A wide variety of fruits, veggies, and herbs available to everyone, regardless of background or income! 🌽🍎🥦🧄

🍞533,003 pounds of food distributed through our downtown food shelf, our West Duluth pop-up, and Chum2GO - the weight equivalent of around 355 adult male moose!

Shelf-stable foods that are always popular: mac & cheese, canned or pouch tuna, canned spaghetti sauce, canned veggies, canned soup (no cream soups, please!), and canned fruit. Organizing your own drive in your local circles is another great way to help those who need an extra hand 💞
