In honor of Ageism Awareness Day, we're spotlighting the Words Matter Project we helped bring to life as part of the Duluth Age-Friendly initiative.

By making small, intentional shifts in our language, we can challenge ageist stereotypes, reframe the narrative around aging, and build a more inclusive, respectful community for people of all ages.

As part of the People Behind Our Purpose series, we're excited to introduce you to one of our age-friendly partners, Georgia Lane, Director of Aging Initiatives at Ecolibrium3 and co-lead of the Duluth Age-Friendly initiative.

With 20+ years of leadership in aging services, Georgia is also a founding member of the Age-Friendly Steering Committee, which brings local partners together each month to help advance age-friendly work right here in Duluth.

When asked what growing older means to her, Georgia shared, “I truly believe that aging is a gift, and I’m committed to reshaping how we collectively think, talk, and act about aging in our communities.”

Through AARP's Senior Planet program and our partnership with Ecolibrium3, we’re helping fund classes that give people of all ages opportunities to build digital skills, build confidence with technology, and stay connected in an increasingly digital world.
