The TPAC Dragons were excited to show up at the Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival yesterday to share dragon boat history, sweet treats, delicious cuisine, and the load of paddling together! It was a gorgeous day with lovely energy, lots of laughter, and even just a little bit of competitiveness! Thanks to all who came through our cultural tent, to all our paddlers, and all our volunteers who made our cultural presence at the festival possible! Go TPAC!

These five Asian American historical events, and how they have shaped our individual histories here in America, are important for all of us living here to know and understand. Our histories are American history. ❤️

Depending on the business and the signups, we may need to limit our size. We want to support but not overwhelm these establishments. After signing up, you’ll receive confirmation of your RSVP. (Of course, please don’t let us stop you from going to these tasty spots now and in the future, especially if you’re unable to join us for these specific outings.) See you soon!

Do you know the importance of Juneteenth? Knowing American history means learning all of American history; the good and deeply flawed parts of OUR country. Join your community events and meet neighbors. See you all at the Central Hillside of Duluth from 1-5 pm.

Juneteenth is an often overlooked event in our nation’s history. On June 19, 1865, Union troops freed enslaved African Americans in Galveston Bay and across Texas some two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.

As we round out AAPI Heritage Month we want to remind everyone of the critical role each of us play in being educated about history, actively listening to each other, and giving space to welcome people as they are. Racism, “othering” and hate ripples through communities today and is meant to separate and tear us apart. This PBS video reviews Chinese American history from the 1800’s but sadly history is repeating itself in 2026.

Do not be afraid because we are in this fight together. Stay well, be kind and support your BIPOC friends/neighbors.
