Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce

Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce The Duluth area’s premier advocate for local businesses, economic development and community progress.

One of the largest and most influential chambers in the state of Minnesota, the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce serves 1,000 members, representing large, mid-sized, and small businesses alike. We serve as an advocate for commerce and industry; facilitate interaction among business, government, education, labor, and the greater community; and actively create innovative opportunities for business to

advance within local and global economies. Membership in the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce provides business owners and their employees a wide variety of tangible opportunities to grow and develop their businesses, as well as their professional skill sets. In addition, the Chamber continually works with units of local, state, and national government, on behalf its members, to foster and maintain a healthy economic environment that is conducive to doing business. While our members are busy serving their clients, we make sure their business needs are met.

The Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to welcome Jim Roche as Interim President.

Jim recently retired as president of the Maine Bankers Association, a position he held since 2021. Prior to his time with the Maine Bankers Association, Jim served as president of the Business & Industry Association of New Hampshire—New Hampshire’s statewide chamber of commerce—for nearly 17 years. He also led a regional chamber of commerce in Upstate New York, and worked in economic development, marketing/communications, and public policy in Minnesota.

Jim is originally from Minneapolis and has a longstanding connection to Duluth. He attended UMD for two years before completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He lived in Duluth for seven years after college and has maintained a condominium here for the past 10 years. His sister (one of nine siblings) and brother-in-law live on Park Point, along with four of their six adult children (Jim’s nieces and nephews).

Jim is excited to return to the Duluth business community. The chamber board and staff look forward to benefiting from his experience and leadership to help guide the Chamber until a permanent president is selected.

Please join us in welcoming Jim to the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce!

Chamber staff, ambassadors and board members were honored to join Aspirus Health St. Luke’s for a ribbon cutting celebrating the newly remodeled Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) Clinic and Surgical Associates Clinic on the third floor of the Pavilion building.

The $1.2 million investment in the space and equipment is expanding capabilities, adding state-of-the-art technology, and creating more patient care areas to enhance the patient journey from start to finish. The improvements also include better workspaces to support their growing team.

Investments like this strengthen access to high-quality care right here in our community and help ensure patients have the resources and technology they need close to home.

Thank you to Aspirus St. Luke’s for your continued dedication to our community and for investing in the health and well-being of the people you serve. We’re proud to celebrate this exciting investment and the opportunities it creates for patients and providers alike!

Today, the Chamber was pleased to join The Lakeview at 333 for a ribbon cutting celebrating the grand opening of The Lakeview Residences and Guesthouse.

This milestone marks the arrival of a new hub for residential living, hospitality, wellness, retail, and community gathering in downtown Duluth, further strengthening the city’s Medical District and Historic Arts and Theatre (HART) District. The nearly $100 million development represents one of the city’s most significant private investments in recent years.

The Lakeview Residences and Guesthouse features 210 total units, including 176 rental residences and 34 hotel rooms, creating new opportunities for people to live, stay, work, and gather in downtown Duluth.

Investments like The Lakeview are an important part of building a thriving community. They create new opportunities for businesses, contribute to economic development, and strengthen the places where people live and connect.

The Lakeview team also took time to recognize the many construction, community, and development partners who helped bring this project to life. Congratulations to everyone involved in this incredible investment in downtown Duluth!

The Lakeview is now leasing. Learn more at thelakeviewat333.com.
