The Queen, Sandra Tanner—whom many of us in ministry to Latter-day Saints consider to be the godmother of Christian apologetics in Utah—will be visiting the Center this Saturday at 9 a.m. Her topic is "President Dallin H. Oaks and the Doctrine of God." We will have her (and Jerald’s) books on sale afterward, including Mormonism: Shadow or Reality. We also sell the Tanner biography, Lighthouse, authored by Ronald Higgins. We think both books are very important!

Whenever Sandra speaks, it’s generally packed for that session and we only have 40 seats available in our room. To make sure you get your seat, we recommend getting here early on Saturday. We will open the doors at 8:30 a.m. We will be done at 10:30 a.m. and we can see if Sandra could sign some of her books for you. We look forward to seeing you this Saturday.

On Saturday Doris Hanson of Shield and Refuge Ministry will be sharing with us at the UCRC at 9 a.m. Her topic is "Why Polygamy in the Bible is not a Good or Valid Reason for Mormon Polygamy." This will be a good education on dealing with those who point to biblical passages to support polygamy by earlier leaders of the LDS Church.

If you live in Utah, we invite you to join us for a time of teaching and fellowship after. (We always try to tape all our presentations but sometimes there are technical difficulties.) If you can, please join us. We will finish by 10:30 a.m., we promise!

We only have 4 spots left we can reserve for those wanting to come tomorrow a.m. to honor Marv Cowan. He will speak about his 63 years of Christian ministry in Utah, followed by Sandra Tanner. We begin at 9 and there will be food afterwards--please stay for a time of fellowship and to greet Marv!

This Saturday morning at 9 a.m. at the UCRC in Draper, UT, we will honor Marv Cowan, who has spent more than 6 decades in Utah doing incredible ministry. Join us for a talk and celebration.

IMPORTANT: We are taking reservations for this event. We are limited to 40 people and more than half the spots are already reserved. The event is free, but we will prioritize seats for those who have signed up. If you have not already done so, please email ([email protected]) to reserve your spots.

After Marv is finished with his talk titled “Serving Amongst the Mormons: My Life as A Christian Apologist” at 10 a.m., Sandra Tanner will take the podium and give a tribute to Marv by describing his impact on ministry in Utah. We will open it up to those in the audience who want to share their memories of Marv and the good work he has done.

Afterward, we will have finger foods and drinks available as we encourage people to “hang around” and fellowship. You can personally thank Marv for his labor of love for so many years. We want this to be a special time for Marv and his family.

Weekend Symposium on Mormonism from a Christian PerspectiveBill McKeever & Eric Johnson

MRM’s Bill McKeever and Eric Johnson are giving a “Weekend Symposium on Mormonism from a Christian persepctive” this Friday and Saturday at Midvalley Bible Church in Bluffdale, UT. This church is right off the Bangerter and is easy to find, not far from the I-15.

This is a FREE event and we will have 5 different training sessions.

On Friday, Eric will teach on “Is Mormonism Christianity?” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Bill follows with “Joseph Smith’s First Vision and the Book of Mormon.”

Then, on Saturday, there will be a coffee and donut time at 9 a.m before Bill speaks 2x in a row: “Examining Mormonism’s Prooftexts” starting at 9:30 a.m. and “Mormon Missionaries at Your Door” at 10:30 a.m.

There will be a lunch afterward ($10 per person) before the final session by Eric titled “Understanding Mormonism’s View of God” at 1 p.m.
