Getting someone to the table is only part of the work 💙

In our third conversation with Patricio Molina, he reflects on something he sees across the field: people can be asked for their perspective again and again without being given the opportunity to move into greater leadership.

Through Sphinx LEAD, Patricio is developing a vision for something different.

He wants to create a culture where people are not only invited into the room, but heard, supported, and promoted. Most importantly, he wants that culture to continue long after his own leadership.

Richard has been attending SphinxConnect since 2018, returning for the people, the conversations, and the opportunity to learn from perspectives different from his own.

Sphinx Virtuosi arrives at the University of Notre Dame on October 14 🎻

We’ll be joined by Grammy-winning mezzo-soprano J’Nai Bridges for American Dialogues 250, a program reflecting on America’s evolving story through newly commissioned works and reimagined classics.

The evening includes Damien Geter’s Declaration with libretto by Aaron Dworkin, alongside works by Rachel McFarlane, Roberto Sierra, Jessie Montgomery, Ravel, and Stravinsky.

Sometimes the most useful thing a leader can do is listen 💙

That’s one of the lessons Patricio Molina carries from Sphinx LEAD.
He recalls a night when his cohort gathered after dinner and began talking honestly about the difficulties they were facing. There was no pressure to solve anything. The group simply created space to listen, be vulnerable, and support one another.

That spirit has stayed with them. Even now, if someone needs to talk through a challenge, the cohort finds a way to connect and be there.

For Patricio, leadership is not always about giving direction. Sometimes it is about being present enough to really hear someone.
