Calling all young creators, artists, photographers, and designers!

YCAE is excited to launch the Creative Competition: T-Shirt Design Challenge with the theme:

Create the Culture

We’re inviting youth ages 13–21 to submit one original T-shirt design that represents creativity, empowerment, Detroit pride, and the power of the arts.

Open to:

Current YCAE youth
Past YCAE participants/alumni
Metro Detroit and Southeast Michigan youth creatives

Designs may should include one of the following:

Tools of the arts, cameras, paintbrushes, design tools, media, storytelling elements, original photography, graphic design, typography, Detroit-inspired concepts, youth empowerment themes, and photography from YCAE programs. A gallery of approved YCAE images will be provided for participants who would like to use them in their design.

Competition Opens: June 1
Submissions Due: July 3

The grand prize winner will receive:

A $100–$250 art scholarship
Their shirt professionally produced
A feature by YCAE
Professional photos with the final shirt/design
The opportunity for their design to be sold as official YCAE merchandise

This is more than a T-shirt.

This is youth creativity, culture, and arts trade in action.

8 years ago was the first YCAE summer Photography Camp.

It was extremely hot, we were outside and I had the privilege of teaching 6 kids who loved Photography.

Thank you to all those who have supported my dream since day 1 and all those have helped make it what it is today!
