Reclaim. Reflect. Recommit. Join the Black Power Coalition for Black August! On August 14th, 1 PM - 5 PM, at the GBI 15798 Livernois
The Black Power Coalition is a powerful developing alliance of local Black led organizations. We invite you to our Black August Program. This is a crucial space for collective grounding, learning and action.
Experience:
- CommUNITY Grounding & Potluck
- Deep dives into Black August history, its four pillars and the legacy of freedom fighters like the Soledad Brothers and many others
- A screening of Attica and a collective reflection
- An open mic showcasing local artistic talent
This program welcomes Black, Brown and White comrades united in the struggle for Black liberation.
To our Black community: This space is for us. Come share your voice, your insights and find pathways to plug into the ongoing revolutionary work. Let’s recenter and recommit to our liberation and the liberation of all oppressed people.
White allies: We ask you to join us in the spirit of listening and respect. You will have dedicated breakout sessions, facilitated by white comrades, to process and discuss tangible solidarity actions, including reparations, Landback and the practical work of decolonizing and disowning whiteness, after hearing from Black voices.
Interested in bringing a dish to the community potluck. It’s encouraged, we just ask you include a label with ingredients.
Let’s build power together this Black August.
