😎It’s reunion time for Detroit’s food community! Meet up at The KGD Annual Farm and Garden Tour - August 5. GET TICKETS: https://www.detroitagriculture.net/tour

The tour brings Detroit’s food community together to explore the farms and gardens that sustain the city—highlighting local ecosystems, shared stewardship, and community connection. Visit a variety of growing spaces, hear and walk through the stories of their gardens. There are two bus tours (east & west) and a bike ride tour (near the KGD Farm). Following the tour, we’ll have a celebration with food and drinks at the KGD Farm.

General admission tickets are $25. Tickets for youth ages 12 and under are $10. Each ticket includes admission to the tour and celebration at KGD Farm afterwards featuring seasonal dishes by local chefs utilizing Grown in Detroit produce. Come through!

We're in the Strawberry Moon and that means all around us our berry relatives are sharing their medicine with us.

This month's Gathering of Growers will be hosted by our farmer friends Alice and Kirby at Fields of Plenty. During this gathering we'll spend some time discussing the current moon phase and teachings and learn about the strawberry's seed to table cycle. We hope to see you there!

🔆 Family Fun Day is next weekend! Join us on Saturday, June 27 from 12:00-2:30p at Keep Growing Detroit Farm, 3100 Orleans, for nature crafts, music, farm tours, and more! Take a farm tour and design your own fairy garden before heading over to make your own salad with freshly harvested vegetables and enjoy fresh, locally made pizza from ! No need to RSVP, just come through with the fam. We hope that you can join us!

🌀IT’S SCAPE SZN! This Saturday’s Grown in Detroit stand Shed 2 keep an eye out for all the early summer faves: garlic scapes, green onions, mushrooms, salad mixes, spinach, root veggies, flower bouquets, and a whole lot more! Everything on the table is grown sustainably in the city by local growers, and 100% of sales goes right back to the growers. We happily accept EBT/SNAP benefits, Double Up Food Bucks, cash, and card.

FYI we won’t be at the market next weekend 6/30 in celebration of Juneteenth, so make sure to stock up this Saturday 6/13. See ya there produce pals!

🥬In this Family Foodways cooking class, we’ll talk about the many ways cultures prepare leafy greens—from Southern collards and mustard greens to Caribbean callaloo, Latin American verdolagas, African-inspired dishes, and other beloved traditions: Glorious Greens with Chef Zi!

We are asking attendees to RSVP due to limited space and to ensure there's enough for everyone to have a small tasting.

Chef Zi will share her African American and Gullah Geechee roots that have inspired her to become her family’s storyteller and historian. On the menu will be different types of greens cooked traditionally, as well as vegetarian and new-school options. Enjoy your greens sample with a piece of Southern Hoecake.

Join us as we share recipes, memories, and cultural traditions that remind us how food connects generations and keeps our roots growing deep!

Due to extreme heat forecasted by the National Weather Service, the sweet potato distribution at KGD Farm, 3100 Orleans, has a new start time: Wednesday, June 10 from 6-8p.

For everyone’s safety during the heat, this will only be a distribution. There will be no sweet potato planting demonstration. Additionally, we have scheduled the event for later in the day for when it starts to get a little bit cooler. We will have lots of tents set up and plenty of water to keep us all hydrated.

No RSVP is require, but you must be a Garden Resource Program member to receive sweet potato slips. We have a limited supply of Sweet potato slips that will be distributed while supplies last.
