As another school year begins, it's a reminder that learning isn't limited to a classroom or a particular stage of life. In today's world, technology, artificial intelligence, and digital tools are shaping everything from healthcare and banking to communication and employment. Staying informed and continuing to build new skills helps individuals remain connected, independent, and engaged in their communities.

At the Detroit Area Agency on Aging, we believe learning is a lifelong journey. Whether its gaining confidence using a smartphone, learning to navigate online services, exploring social media, or understanding emerging technologies, it's never too late to learn something new.

Interested in expanding your skill set? Visit our website to explore DAAA Wellness Centers, where older adults can participate in technology and digital literacy workshops, lifelong learning opportunities, and enrichment courses designed to help them stay connected and thrive in today's ever-evolving world.

Summer 2026 has been a reminder of what can happen when community partnerships come together in service of older adults. Senior Friendship Day, the Senior Olympics, and the launch of the DAAA Amazon Ring Community Initiative showcased the strong collaboration between the Detroit Area Agency on Aging and the City of Detroit. Together, we are creating opportunities for older adults to stay active, connected, safe, and engaged.

A special thank you to the Mayor Mary Sheffield, Wayne County Commissioner Alisha Bell, City of Detroit Parks & Recreation, and all of our community partners for helping make these moments possible and for your ongoing commitment to healthy aging in Metro Detroit.
