May is Double Up Michigan Awareness Month! 🌱

Across Michigan, Double Up Food Bucks Michigan/ is an essential community resource that helps families bring home more healthy, locally-grown food while supporting the farmers and local businesses who make it possible.

When people use Double Up, they are not just matching the dollars they spend on fruits and vegetables. More dollars stay local. More farmers see increased sales. And more families have access to the fruits and vegetables they want and need.

This year’s theme, Eat Local, Grow Community, reflects what we see every day. Food is more than what is on the table. It is a powerful way to build health, wealth, and resilience across our state.

We are excited to celebrate all month long with our Michigan communities, partners, and everyone who makes this work possible. Learn more: https://doubleupfoodbucks.org/awareness-month/

Uproot Market & Eatery is a shining example of how the right financing can help community food businesses take root and thrive. 🌱

As a lending partner with Michigan Good Food Fund, our Fair Food Fund helped broker capital investments, including a guaranty on a loan from the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), to support Uproot’s incredible new storefront. Today, it’s a community pillar providing healthy food access to the downtown Battle Creek community.

🎥 Check out the video to see the story behind Uproot Market!

We loved seeing impact come full circle in Flint. 💚
Our Impact Investing and Double Up Food Bucks Michigan teams recently visited North Flint Food Market Cooperative, and it was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when communities lead.

Through Fair Food Fund, we provided early support to help bring the co-op’s vision to life. Today, alongside strong partners and community members, it’s thriving and participating in Double Up Food Bucks—helping families using a Bridge Card stretch their dollars on fresh, healthy food while supporting a community-owned grocery store.

From early investment to everyday impact at the register, this is what community-powered food systems look like.

Thank you to Fair Food Network for stopping by North Flint Food Market last week to discuss how we can continue to provide fresh produce and nutritious options for our community! 💚🙌🏾

Your continued support, dedication, and investment in our community does not go unnoticed.

We appreciate the partnership and look forward to continuing to provide our community with nutritious options! 💚

We love our team.

But we might love their karaoke skills even more. 🎤✨
Last week we gathered around the table to celebrate a big team win — and yes, there was singing.

At Fair Food Network, we know that when we come together — to solve problems, build partnerships, or belt out a chorus — we’re stronger.

Grateful for this crew and the heart, humor, and dedication they bring every day. When we start with food (and sometimes karaoke), everything else is possible.

What an inspiring few days at the 2026 National Farm Stop Conference in Michigan! The Farm Stop movement continues to show what’s possible when farmers, advocates, policymakers, and changemakers come together.

🌾 Highlights from Fair Food Network at Farm Stop:

Cassandra Fletcher-Martin, CFO, shared her expertise on funding your farm and building strong financial foundations for farm enterprises.

Alex Canepa, Policy Director, led a thoughtful discussion on food policy, as well as a workshop on producer profitability.

Noah Fulmer, Senior Fellow, dove into the heart of food access, spotlighting innovative strategies to make fresh, healthy food more reachable for all.

Kate Krauss, our CEO, inspired the crowd with a forward-looking talk on the future of SNAP and what’s next for nutrition assistance in building equitable food economies.

Plus, an inspiring keynote by Stacey Abrams!

Thank you to Argus Farm Stop and all the organizers for gathering this incredible community of leaders. Together, we’re cultivating a more connected, resilient food system.
