Calebs Kids

Calebs Kids Our work is catered to Metro-Detroit Area youth grades 4 – 12. Who is Caleb? Caleb Jamal Snow was a loving father, son, brother, and friend.

We positively impact su***de rates by providing tools, resources, educational materials, workshops, and other support for mental health awareness and su***de prevention. After struggling with months of depression, Caleb ended his life on Friday, November 6th, 2015, at the young age of 22. Caleb left behind two children and a host of family and friends for which he cared deeply. This foundation was created to honor his life and the legacy he left behind.

Showing up for our community starts with taking care of ourselves, too. 💚 Here’s how the CK team makes time to unplug, unwind, and reset.

Depression doesn’t always look like sadness. 💛

A smile, a full schedule, or an “I’m fine” doesn’t tell someone’s whole story. What we see on the outside may be only a small part of what they’re carrying.

As we begin October, Caleb’s Kids is focusing this week on depression awareness—creating space for honest conversations and reminding our community that you don’t have to look like you’re struggling to deserve support.

Check in beyond the surface. Make room for an honest answer. Listen with care.

And if this feels familiar, your feelings matter—even when others can’t see them. You deserve to be heard and supported. 💛

This past Friday, September 25th, our CEO had the honor of serving as the Keynote Speaker for the City of Flint’s three-day Su***de Prevention & Awareness Event. 💜🩵

This particular gathering was thoughtfully curated for Survivors of Su***de Loss and helped to create a space to remember, reflect, heal, and honor the lives of loved ones lost to su***de.

Through a message rooted in both personal experience and hope, her words offered encouragement, connection, and a reminder that grief has no timeline and no single path. Attendees also received “A Light I Carry” remembrance bags as a tangible way to continue honoring the love, memories, and light of those they carry with them.

We are grateful to the City of Flint, Flint Mayor Sheldon A. Neely, City of Flint Michelle Scott, Program Manager Community Violence Intervention and Prevention, Sponsors, and Other Instrumental Voices, for creating space for such an important conversation and for inviting Kiesha and Caleb’s Kids to be a part of this impactful event.

Sometimes the most important thing we can do is simply listen, stay present, and remind someone they don’t have to face it alone.

If someone tells you they’re struggling:
🗣️ Listen without judgment
💬 Ask how you can support them
🤝 Stay connected and follow up
📲 Help them connect with a trusted person or professional
❤️ Take any mention of su***de seriously

You don’t have to have all the answers. Being there can make a difference. 🩵💜💙

Checking in isn’t just asking, “You good?”

It’s slowing down.
It’s asking again.
It’s listening without trying to fix everything.
It’s letting someone know, “I’m here.”

September is Su***de Prevention Month.
Check in. Check again. Stay connected.
