Myth: Voting NO on Amendment 1 means voting for higher taxes.

Fact: A NO vote changes nothing about your taxes. It keeps the rules as they are, with tax decisions made by a majority of the lawmakers you elect.

Iowa lawmakers haven't raised the income tax since 1975. Amendment 1 isn't about protecting you; it's about locking in tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations.

Iowa's private school voucher program sends hundreds of millions of public dollars a year to private schools, with little public accountability for how it's spent. Meanwhile, public school funding keeps falling behind.

As State Auditor, Rob Sand's job is to follow Iowans' tax dollars. As governor, he's committed to investing in — not defunding — Iowa's public schools and bringing real transparency to the voucher program.
Iowa students deserve a governor who puts public schools first. ISEA recommends Rob Sand.

Under Amendment 1, one "no" vote in the Legislature would count as much as two "yes" votes.
A two-thirds supermajority means as few as 17 state senators — or 34 state representatives — could block the will of the majority and the Iowans they represent.
That's not majority rule. It hands a small group, and the lobbyists who court them, veto power over Iowa's future.
