🏗️ ANOTHER BIG STEP FOR LOCAL 33! 🔧

Congratulations to all the members of Plumbers & Steamfitters Local Union 33 on the successful closing and purchase of our new property at 2511 Bell Avenue, directly west of our current Union Hall at 2501 Bell Avenue!

This is more than just the purchase of another building. It is another investment in our membership, our training, and the future of Local 33.

As our Local continues to grow, we continue to look for opportunities to expand our footprint and strengthen our presence in the industry. The addition of 2511 Bell Avenue gives us even more opportunities to expand our training capabilities, better serve our membership, and prepare the next generation of skilled union plumbers, pipefitters, welders, HVAC service technicians, and apprentices.

Everything we continue to build belongs to the members of Local 33. This property is another asset that will serve our membership for years and generations to come.

We should all take a great deal of pride in what Local 33 continues to accomplish. This is a win for every member of Local 33…past, present, and future.

It’s time for the FIRST ANNUAL PLUMBERS & STEAMFITTERS LOCAL 33 LABOR DAY CAR & BIKE SHOW!

This Sunday, September 6th, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., we’re taking over the parking lot at the Local 33 Union Hall — 2501 Bell Avenue!

We know there are plenty of Local 33 members out there with some pretty damn nice toys sitting in their garages. Now’s the time to shine ’em up, fire ’em up, and bring ’em down to the Hall!

Of course, we’ll have plenty of good food, some nice cold beverages and a few stories that probably get better every time they’re told, and plenty of good old-fashioned Local 33 BS!

The officers and members of Plumbers & Steamfitters Local Union 33 extend our sincerest condolences to the entire Baumgardner family on the passing of our Union Brother, Scott “Scotty” Baumgardner.
Scotty was a good union man and a proud Brother of Local 33. He was a quiet guy who mostly kept to himself, but he was dependable, hardworking, and someone you were always glad to have alongside you on the job. He believed in our trade, did his work with pride, and represented what it means to be a union craftsman.
Every Brother and Sister who spends a career in this trade leaves their mark on our Local, and Scotty will always be remembered as part of the Local 33 family.
Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Scotty’s family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him during this difficult time.
Rest easy, Brother Scotty. Your work here is done, but you will not be forgotten.

It’s always great when I get the opportunity to run into a couple of my closest friends, Chuck “Nasty” Tarpley and Pat “Chum” Leddy.

The three of us were all elected as Business Managers at the same time back in July of 2010, Pat representing UA Local 16 in Omaha, Chuck representing UA Local 8 in Kansas City, and me representing UA Local 33 in Des Moines.

Not long after being elected, the three of us attended the George Meany Labor College in Silver Spring, Maryland, together for New Business Manager training. We spent that time learning the ropes together, building relationships, and getting ready to take on the responsibilities of leading our respective locals. From there, as they say, the rest is history.

Sixteen years later, I’m proud to say these two are much more than fellow Business Managers and union leaders. I consider Chuck and Pat two of my closest friends and brothers. We’ve shared a lot of experiences over the years, and it’s always great when we get the chance to get together, visit, share some laughs, and catch up.

One of the greatest things about this union is the friendships and brotherhood you build along the way. Sixteen years later, we’re still standing together. That’s what solidarity and brotherhood are all about.

A special shoutout to the wonderful ladies of Local 33 who attended the Ladies Brunch hosted by the United Association today while the 41st Annual Convention was in session.

It’s great to see this group enjoying some time together and being recognized as such an important part of our UA and Local 33 family. The support, sacrifices, and encouragement our spouses and families provide throughout the year mean more than we can ever say.

Thank you to the UA for hosting today’s brunch, and most importantly, thank you to these amazing ladies for making the trip to San Diego and for always supporting Local 33 and all of us who are here conducting the business of our union.

We appreciate you ladies and everything you do! Local 33 proud! ❤️🔧
