🎉 It's time to celebrate! 🎉
The 2026 legislative session delivered important wins for public employees.
Governor Reynolds signed HF 1023 into law, updating IPERS retirement benefits for protection occupation employees covered under Iowa Code. Earlier this session, HF 2502 was also signed into law, providing paid parental leave for state employees and additional support for working families.
We recognize these victories impact specific groups of employees. But they also demonstrate something much bigger: when public employees, union members, and labor allies stand together, we can make progress and continue restoring employee voices at the table about terms and conditions of employment.
These wins did not happen overnight. They happened because people stayed engaged, built relationships, educated lawmakers, and refused to give up.
Now it's time to keep that momentum going.
Voters will head to the polls in November to elect the leaders who make decisions that affect our workplaces, wages, benefits, retirement security, and the public services we provide every day.
Nothing changes when nothing changes.
Let's be the change. Let's support one another, engage our union siblings, and continue fighting for a stronger voice and a seat at the table for ALL public employees on every issue.
