¡Que viva el Pueblo! Happy from our Pueblo team!
Last Monday, the City of Pueblo presented a proclamation to community partners at Servicios de La Raza for Hispanic Heritage Month which is recognized September 15 through October 15.
The County of Pueblo honors and celebrates the rich cultural heritage, traditions, and enduring contributions of Hispanic, Latino, and Chicano communities, whose presence in this region long predates the establishment of the United States and continues to shape the identity, resilience, and cultural vibrancy of Pueblo County.
Pueblo County recognizes that Hispanic, Latino, and Chicano residents contribute significantly to the civic life, public service, economy, education, arts, and cultural vitality of our community, forming an essential part of Pueblo's story and its future.
Hispanic Heritage Month provides an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate generations of Hispanic, Latino, and Chicano Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our society, locally and nationally, while also recognizing the histories of perseverance, community-building, and movements for equity that continue to guide us today.
The dates of Hispanic Heritage Month hold historical significance, aligning with the independence commemorations of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua on September 15, followed by Mexico on September 16, Chile on September 18, and Belize on September 2I, reflecting the shared histories and cultural ties among communities throughout the Americas.
Pueblo County recognizes those who came before us - families, workers, organizers, educators, and community leaders whose resilience, language, cultural traditions, and commitment to Pueblo continue to strengthen and enrich our entire region.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, WE, the City Council of the City of Pueblo, Colorado and the Board of County Commissioners, of the County of Pueblo, Colorado, by the authority vested in us, do hereby proclaim September 15 to October 15, 2026, as "Hispanic Heritage Month" in the City and County of Pueblo, Colorado, and call upon the citizens of this community to join us in this special observance.
