🆘URGENT Medical Foster Needed🆘
Ranger has endured so much in his short life and NEEDS OUR HELP NOW more than ever. When he was first found in early March in South Texas, Ranger was showing signs of partial paralysis, dragging his back legs while trying to walk. A laminectomy was performed, allowing the discs in his spine to decompress, and he regained the ability to walk on all fours again. Although he had a “wonky” gait, he enjoyed playing with other dogs and going on daily walks. Two weeks ago he started to limp and after an x-ray and surgery consultation at WheatRidge Animal Hospital, it was determined that he has a sub-luxating hip and will require a complete hip replacement. The surgery consultation at Spry Orthopedics is scheduled for Monday, October 26. We will have a better idea when the actual surgery will be after that appointment and can update any potential medical fosters then.
WHAT DOES BEING A MEDICAL FOSTER MEAN? Ranger will need 8 to 10 weeks of crate rest and restricted physical activity. The great news is that he is a medium-energy level dog and has already endured a restricted recovery from his spinal surgery in March. He loves his crate and will readily hang out in it on his own accord.
The MOST IDEAL medical foster home for Ranger would be one in which he does not have access to play with other dogs as he ADORES them and will want to romp around. HE IS GOOD WITH CATS which opens up the possibilities! And he is definitely sweet with his humans although shy at first.
Please reach out if you are able to help with Ranger’s recovery. ALL SUPPLIES will be PROVIDED. Ranger needs us now more than ever in this final stage of his medical treatment/physical recovery from a life of neglect in Texas.
