Today, we recognize Indigenous Peoples Day, honoring the histories, cultures and contributions of Indigenous communities. This day is an opportunity to center Indigenous voices and perspectives, deepen our understanding of their histories, and recognize both the resilience of Indigenous communities and the ongoing challenges they face.

Today and every day, we recognize that Indigenous cultures, traditions, knowledge and leadership are living and evolving, continuing to enrich our communities every day.

Across Greater Denver, there are meaningful opportunities to learn, celebrate and connect with Indigenous communities. Explore local events happening:

📍 October 12, 9:30 AM- 5:00 PM | City Park: Denver Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration and Parade

📍 October 13, 7:30 – 9:30 PM | University of Denver Newman Center: Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration — Southern Cheyenne and Arapaho musicians will share a drum performance.

📍Visit History Colorado for The Sand Creek Massacre: The Betrayal That Changed Cheyenne and Arapaho People Forever exhibition | An opportunity to learn about the injustices endured by Indigenous communities, reflect on the past, consider importance of truth and healing and hope for future generations.

Additionally, Chief Black Kettle, the first finished figure of “Peace Keepers,” the Colorado state capitol memorial to the Sand Creek Massacre, will be on view at History Colorado starting today.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, and ballots are arriving in Colorado mailboxes.

Rose Community Foundation weights in on the systems and policies that impact people living in Greater Denver and beyond. Ahead of Election Day, we’ve shared our positions on several measures appearing on the November ballot, including issues related to community safety, the rights of transgender youth, tax policy and funding for schools.

Three years after the horrific Hamas attacks of October 7, 2023, many in our community continue to carry grief, trauma and uncertainty.

As antisemitism continues to rise around the world and here at home, Rose Community Foundation remains committed to supporting a vibrant, secure and welcoming Jewish community in Greater Denver and to building understanding across communities.

On this anniversary, the Foundation honors the lives lost and stands with all who continue to grieve. We mourn with those affected by the attacks, and hold hope for more peaceful times in Israel, throughout the Middle East and worldwide.

For many in our community, this is also a moment to gather to remember, listen and be there for one another. For those seeking a space for reflection and community, JEWISHcolorado will host "October 7: Remembrance and Reflection" on the evening of October 7 at the University of Denver. As September comes to a close, we’re reflecting on Su***de Prevention Month — a time to raise awareness, share hope and encourage meaningful action to support mental health and su***de prevention.

In Colorado, su***de is a leading cause of death among young people and the eighth-leading cause of death overall. Addressing this crisis requires a community-wide approach, including expanding access to mental health resources, strengthening connections and advancing efforts to prevent fi***rm harm.

We’re proud to support and work alongside our nonprofit partners, including grantees through the Colorado Safe Futures Fund and organizations focused on mental health and community wellbeing.

Thank you to the people and organizations working every day to build communities where people feel connected, supported and able to thrive. 💛
