At Small Choices it’s important to us to celebrate the wins as well as embrace the losses after a cancer diagnosis.

This weekend, our own Director of Operations Scarlett, who happens to be an AML/BMT survivor, married her best friend, new board member David, amidst the gentle rain of Hawaii.

Milestones mean a bit more when you faced a time where they weren’t guaranteed.

Shipped out two sets of bears to kids in Guatemala and Venezuela who have parents being treated in Colorado, including Yenny, shown recently with her baby son, who is dearly missing her 3 and 5 yr olds across the seas.

SCF Presents: A Day in the Life with Anna Tower-Kövesdi ❤️

“Getting invited to a wedding in Mexico is a beautiful thing in itself. But experiencing it after four years of medical challenges made it feel even more special.

After beating leukemia and going through double hip replacements, this trip gave me something I didn’t know I needed: the feeling that I’m capable. That I’m back. That there is still so much ahead of me.

Completing a 6-mile hike with rocky scrambling felt like so much more than a hike. It was a milestone. A reminder of how far I’ve come, and a little glimpse of everything I’m capable of again.

A feeling of hope. Of accomplishment. Of excitement for whatever comes next.” ❤️

Small Choices was happy to support Anna through her Leukemia diagnosis and we’re so much more elated to see her living her very best dream life. 🐳

Out tribe members are resilient, capable, and so deserving of beautiful futures ahead. Thanks, Anna, for reminding us all how good it gets to be!

Honestly, RSVP’s are a bit slow for our SCF Pool Party on Aug. 15!💧🥵

This is a rare opportunity for the whole family to join in on a tribe gathering. SCF community gets to hang by the pool, have delicious treats, and connect with other people who really get what it’s like to face cancer.

We have a stacked lineup of poolside goodies including sandwiches from Snarf's Sandwiches, hot dogs from Mustard's Last Stand, and lemonade from Nicole & Danee. 🍋

It always amazes us how many people want to help cancer patients and their families — they just need to know how. It seems like everywhere we go and among everyone we meet, there is a personal connection to cancer.

Like when our Director of Ops, Scarlett, went to Gold Rush salon for a haircut and connected with the owner, Kate, who after navigating her mom’s diagnosis, immediately resonated with and rallied behind our mission. ✨

Kari’s Bears continue to be one of our most popular program areas. Dreamed up by beloved tribe member, Kari Lee, these bears are gifted to parents facing cancer and their children, to keep them connected even when they are apart during treatment. ❤️‍🩹

Both outpatient treatments and long inpatient stays are made a little more comfortable by these bears. Stuffed with magic, the bears ‘deliver hugs’ to patients & kids when they miss each other most. 🧸

Ever wonder what makes our Comfort Kits so special?

We showed our mascot, Lee, how to pack a kit. And the truth is, no two are the same! THAT is what makes them so great.

Comfort Kits are one of our most impactful ongoing program areas. They are gifted to referred patients who get to choose what items they need to make their long inpatient stay and ongoing treatment a bit more comfortable. ❤️

Anything goes, from headphones to fuzzy blankets, to coloring books, to gift cards. We’re all about giving patients and caregivers a bit of autonomy at a time when so much control is quickly taken away at the time of diagnosis. 🎗️

Social worker referrals for comfort kits and other program areas can be made on our website.

We are always accepting sponsors and community partners who want to offer comfort to cancer patients in Colorado by way of donating funds or product! 🤝
