Rehearsals are underway for our May 1 concert, American Spirit!

This program brings together powerful voices and iconic American works. We are collaborating with the Spirituals Project, directed by M. Roger Holland, to feature The Welcome Table, a spirituals mass, rooted in American history and tradition.

You will also hear:
• Aaron Copland, The Tender Land Suite
• Leonard Bernstein, Slava!
• Florence Price, Adoration
• George Gershwin’s Famous Melodies

Each piece highlights a different side of American music, from reflection to energy to celebration.

Which piece are you most excited to hear? Tell us in the comments below!

Bonus moment from rehearsal. Our bassist David Shugert picked up the banjo and stole the show. Not your average orchestra rehearsal.
