Go Away Hurricane Lowell! 🙏

🌀 CATEGORY 5: Hurricane Lowell has exploded in strength south of Hawaii, with sustained winds reaching 160 mph.

The NHC forecast keeps the hurricane’s destructive core south of the islands for the next several days. After that, Lowell is expected to eventually turn north, but exactly when and where that turn happens is still uncertain. Most models take it west of Hawaii, but with the wide range of tracks, residents should still keep an eye on the forecast.

Ocean temperatures rising!

Global ocean surface temperatures just hit a record high of 21.1°C (70°F), driven by climate change and a strong El Niño. Scientists expect the water to keep warming through the winter, causing major problems for both sea life and humans. Underwater, the extreme heat kills coral reefs and destroys the food supply for fish. On land, these unusually hot oceans fuel heavier rain, stronger storms, and worse heatwaves, which ultimately threatens our global food supply.
