Thank you to everyone that came to the Spring Fabric Sale last weekend! Getting ready for the sale is an immense amount of work for our wonderful volunteers, but all of that is forgotten as soon the doors open. It's great to meet so many new friends at the event.

One question that's often asked is about how the proceeds from the sale are used. All the proceeds from sale are used on DSC programming, such as a our workforce development training program for industrial sewing, Dayton Train to Sew. The workforce training program is offered to participants for FREE. The curriculum we use in the Dayton Train to Sew training program has been developed with input from local manufacturers and focuses on the skills manufacturers are looking for when they hire industrial sewist. In the past 9 years, close to 400 people have participated in this training program. Similar programs are offered in Cincinnati and Columbus with priced at $1200 - $1500.

If you're interested in more information about the Dayton Train to Sew program, please visit our website DaytonSewing.org Click on the Dayton Train to Sew tab.

We're 'sew' proud of the ten students that participated in the first session in 2026 of Dayton Train to Sew workforce development training. ALL 10 students successfully graduated from the program!

One if the graduation criteria is passing a timed sewing test to demonstrate the skills they've learned in the class. The test was developed with input from local manufacturers so that students have the skills local employers are looking for.

So proud of these graduates!

Close to 400 people have participated in this workforce development training over the past 9+ years at no cost to the students!
