Join us on Wednesday, October 14, from 10:00-11:45am for a Chipmunk Adventure focused on the colors of fall! 🍁 🎃 🍂

Designed for preschool children ages 2–5 with an accompanying adult, these classes at Aullwood Farm include hands-on activities, art projects, stories, songs, and outdoor experiences!

Each class is limited to 10 child–adult pairs (minimum of 4 children). Cost is $25 per child for members and $30 for non-members, with a maximum of two children per supervising adult. Preregistration required.

From tracking rare shorebirds to recording swallow nests, public observations are strengthening migratory bird conservation across the world.

Because migratory birds cross countries, continents and the ocean, understanding their movements requires observations from many locations over long periods. Community science extend the reach of monitoring efforts, helping reveal changes in migration patterns, population trends, habitat conditions and threats.

Online apps, such as the Audubon Migratory Bird Explorer, provide accessible and inclusive tools for understanding how birds migrate.

Have you ever wanted to explore Siebenthaler Fen alongside a naturalist? Now you can by signing up for our Fall Migration Beginner Birding Outing at Siebenthaler Fen, hosted in partnership with Beaver Creek Wetlands Association !

During this guided birding walk, we will explore one of the region’s most unique wetland habitats while observing seasonal bird activity and learning bird identification tips. Whether you're a beginner or an avid birder, this walk offers a great opportunity to connect with nature and discover the diverse birdlife of the fen. Binoculars will be provided but feel free to bring your own.

Siebenthaler Fen offers an accessible 1 mile trail with many opportunities for wildlife viewing. The unique boardwalk is made from recycled plastic and fiberglass, and includes an observation tower for a birds-eye view of the wetlands.

NOTE: Program registration is required to ensure an accurate headcount.

👀 Catch a glimpse behind the scenes at Aullwood Audubon's upcoming mural. 👀

Can you guess what these birds represent? If you guessed the colors of the rainbow, you would be right! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 🖤

Over the summer, one of the camp weeks was themed around art. Campers worked with our staff artist, Chris Rowlands, to bring to life this beautiful mural featuring a Northern Cardinal, Blackburnian Warbler, Yellow Warbler, Mallard Duck, Blue Jay, Indigo Bunting, and a Grackle.

We will be installing this mural later this month. Be sure to take a picture with these colorful birds, and tag Aullwood Audubon in your post!

Last month, members of the Friends of Aullwood Board were invited on a tour of the Ohio Governers Mansion's Ohio Heritage Garden by fellow board member, Hope Taft.

During Hope's service as Ohio's first lady (1999-2007), she developed the master plan for the Ohio Heritage Garden, a series of five gardens that replicate the diverse ecoregions in the state. Her work as an advocate for the use of native plants in landscapes and her commitment to the presenvation of natural ecosystems has earned the former first lady the nickname, "First Lady of Ohio’s native plants."

We are honored to have Hope's expertise and passion on our team and are proud to support her mission to inspire the adoption of native plants. 🌱

Why are wetlands such a priority for conservationists and for birds like this juvenile Virginia Rail?

Join us for our upcoming talk, "Why Wetlands Matter: The History and Ecology of Ohio's Wetlands with Austin Miller" to get answers!

Austin Miller, Beaver Creek Wetlands Association board trustee, will introduce the many ways wetlands benefit people and wildlife. We’ll also explore some of the unique characteristics that make wetlands such valuable and productive places.

After the presentation, we’ll head outside for a guided walk through Aullwood’s wetland area, where we can see some of these concepts in action and take a closer look at the plants, habitats, and features that make wetlands such important parts of our landscape.
