MVCAP proudly sponsored and attended HTC Dayton’s Champions for Children Breakfast as our partner celebrated 25 years of enriching the lives of children and families throughout the region.
The breakfast highlighted HTC’s long-standing impact as well as the dignity, care, and practical support the organization brings to families. Guests heard inspiring remarks from Deanna Murphy, HTC Dayton’s Executive Director; Karli Efron from the National Diaper Bank Network; and a mother whose children received support through HTC.
One of the most meaningful parts of the morning was a panel featuring that mother, her case manager, and an HTC volunteer, attendees said. The mother shared about working since she was 16, navigating her partner’s job loss, a complicated pregnancy, bed rest, medical bills, and the difficult reality of not qualifying for some assistance programs despite significant hardship.
“The conversation offered a very human view of how quickly a hardworking family can experience crisis,” said President and CEO Erin Jeffries. “Her story was a strong reminder that families often come to organizations like HTC and MVCAP during some of their most vulnerable moments. It also reinforced the importance of community partnerships that respond with compassion, practical help, and respect.”
MVCAP partners with HTC to provide an additional layer of critical support to families residing in the agency’s Greene County and domestic violence shelters. Clothing, hygiene and comfort items are provided on a case-by-case basis.
“We proudly applaud HTC’s 25 years of compassionate service, advocacy, and care for our community,” Jeffries added.
Joining Jeffries at the breakfast were Chief Operating Officer and HTC Dayton Board of Directors Vice Chair Katie O’Donoghue-Ly; Brent Robinson, April Gibson, and Cynthia Porter from the Greene County team; Courtney Griffith, Heather Seymour, and Alana Gray from Domestic Violence Services.
