Happy !

Today we honor the legacy of the last enslaved African Americans in Texas who were finally informed of their freedom, some two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. It was those people, and the generations of Texans who came after them, who made the bold declaration to celebrate this day, marking a reality we know far too well in this country: freedom may be delayed, but it will never be denied.

Though our fight for freedom sadly continues, today we pause to celebrate and embrace the joy of our ancestors who believed in the possibilities of a more promising tomorrow. And in that joy, we remain anchored, steadfast in our pursuit of true freedom and justice for all.

The decisions made at every level of government impact our schools, neighborhoods, healthcare, housing, and economic opportunities. Yet none of these decisions can truly reflect our communities if we are not registered and prepared to vote.

As part of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.'s Delta Decides 2026 initiative, we encourage every eligible voter to verify their registration status today and help at least two others do the same.

Our founders marched in 1913 for the right to participate in our democracy. Today, we honor their legacy by ensuring our communities are registered, informed, and ready to vote.

Please join us for a virtual 2027 Debutante Ball information session! Learn about the application process, scholarship opportunities, and other exciting activities.

Eligibility Requirements:

๐Ÿ“Œ Cumulative GPA of 2.50 or better on a 4.0 scale
๐Ÿ“Œ Official high school transcript
๐Ÿ“Œ Community involvement

Happy Pride Month to our sorors, partners, and friends!

Delta Sigma Theta has always stood for love, inclusion, and respecting the full dignity of every person. While we remain anchored in that legacy, we also acknowledge the need to continue to evolve with intention by championing affirming policies, and forging a culture where every member is seen, valued, and protected.

This Pride Month, we honor and celebrate the beautiful diversity and strength of the LGBTQ+ community and reaffirm our commitment to being allies in the fight for a better future where the freedom to love and exist in one's authentic identity is not contingent on the political climate. Especially when that freedom is being challenged, we choose to show up louder, love harder, and stand firmer in our commitment to justice for all.

Motherhood is a journey where the days feel long and the years are short, yet the love poured into each moment leaves an imprint that lasts a lifetime.

Today we honor our beautiful mothers โ€” those who guide our steps, watch ahead for danger, and pour themselves into others without hesitation. From mothers by birth to grandmothers, godmothers, and every mother figure who stands in the gap, your love is the foundation upon which we stand.

We also hold space for our sisters experiencing the complexity of joy and grief on this day. For those navigating their own experience of becoming a mother, and those missing the presence of theirs โ€” we see you, we are you, and we love you.
