Air Camp 🛫 STEM Aviation CAMPS for Elementary, Middle, High School students and teachers in Dayton, Ohio USA and beyond.

Air Camp takes place at the birthplace of aviation - Dayton, Ohio. Students will experience all the exciting aviation and educational opportunities in the Dayton region, from the place where the Wright Brothers invented flight to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Home base for the week is on the campus of the University of Dayton. At week's end, each student will fly a small airplane!

What we mean when we say HANDS-ON learning. 👏

👉 Just 90 minutes from Cincinnati, Columbus, and Indianapolis — Air Camp brings rising 4th–6th graders to Dayton, OH (the birthplace of aviation) for engaging STEM activities you can’t get anywhere else. Aircraft tours, drone coding, wind tunnels, falconry, hot air balloon physics, microelectronics and cleanroom engineering — all guided by licensed STEM teachers at exciting aviation sites. 🫶

Discover the exciting world of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) while exploring innovative STEM lessons designed for classroom implementation. During this professional development experience, teachers will examine real-world UAS applications in transportation, engineering, environmental monitoring, and disaster response. Participants will engage in hands-on learning activities, explore emerging technologies such as augmented reality, and review classroom-ready lessons that connect these concepts to STEM standards. Educators will leave with ideas, resources, and practical strategies to bring cutting-edge aviation and technology topics into their classrooms.

“FORCES IN MOTION”- 1-4p Young’s Dairy
Join fellow educators for a unique professional development experience at Young’s Jersey Dairy, where everyday activities become powerful STEM learning opportunities. In this interactive session, teachers will explore the physics concepts of friction, pendulums, angles, and catapults through hands-on investigations inspired by the fun and dynamic environment of Young’s Dairy and its playground.

Participants will engage in creative engineering challenges and demonstrations that reveal how these basic physics principles appear in real-world settings. Throughout the experience, educators will discover practical strategies and classroom-ready activities that make abstract concepts more engaging and accessible for students. Teachers will leave with new ideas, resources, and inspiration to bring meaningful, hands-on physics lessons directly into their classrooms.

ELEMENTARY Air Camp programs spark curiosity and excitement by introducing students to the science of flight through hands-on, age-appropriate STEM experiences. Students in grades 4-6 explore foundational concepts in physics, engineering, aeronautics, and aerodynamics as they investigate how aircraft, drones, birds, and other flying systems work.

ELEMENTARY DAY CAMP: FORCES OF FLIGHT 🪂 BUOYANCY, LIFT & DRAG 🌟 JULY 17 8:30-3:30 🔵 $149

Explore the powerful forces that make flight possible through the exciting world of hot air balloons. With the backdrop of the Middletown Ohio Challenge Hot Air Balloon Festival, students will investigate the forces of flight with a special focus on buoyancy, lift, and drag as they relate to airplanes, dirigibles, and hot air balloons. Through hands-on challenges and creative engineering activities, students will explore how temperature, air density, and design work together to send balloons soaring. From learning the basics of hot air balloons to designing parade balloons and testing engineering design challenges, students will think like scientists and engineers as they build, test, and launch their ideas into the sky.

UAS HANDS-ON CODING AND FLIGHT EXPERIENCE 👨🏻‍💻
Learn how to make a drone fly by using block coding. You’ll plan your own flight, create a code using block coding, and watch your drone take off and follow your commands. Along the way, you’ll see how drones are used in real life and discover how you can make drone missions exciting and creative!

UAS SIMULATORS 🎮
Learn the basics of Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) operations with UAS training simulators. Experience the thrill of piloting a drone in a virtual environment as you navigate challenges, practice precision flying, and hone your problem-solving skills.

CLEANROOM CHALLENGE 👩🏻‍🔬
Gear up like real engineers and scientists as you enter a simulated cleanroom environment. Take on a hands-on STEM challenge to see how precision, problem-solving, and teamwork are essential when designing and building microelectronics. This interactive experience gives students a glimpse into the high-tech environments where innovation takes shape.

WIRED FOR INNOVATION: CIRCUIT BUILD 💡
