A few days later and we’re still riding the high that came from working together and serving in our community during our Make a Difference Day litter cleanups.

It’s the last week of October, the last week before turning our clocks back, and our next to the last coffee chat of the year. Join us this Friday at noon at Gem City Catfé for our October coffee chat. RSVP’s not required but helpful so we know how much space we need.

Does the algorithm favor leading with a photo of a big pile of trash? This was our final haul from yesterday’s and today’s Make a Difference Day litter cleanups in Newcom Plain. Yesterday, a group of students from Chaminade Julienne Catholic HS joined us, and we covered Hamilton Ave from Steve Whalen to Fifth St. This morning, we hit several alleys and the Newcom Plain park and community garden (looking forward to the neighborhood getting these rejuvenated!). Thanks to our nearly 30 volunteers who joined us over the course of both days! We definitely made a difference!

Dawn Kirchner, City of Kettering Sustainability Manager, and Tim Pritchard, City of Dayton Sustainability Specialist, were our special guests at our September coffee chat at Poppets Coffee & Tea in Kettering today. They shared the story of how each city’s sustainability initiatives started, which emphasized the importance of individuals using their voice, forming groups, and telling their city leaders that sustainability needed to be a priority. Thanks Dawn and Tim!

One more opportunity this month to join us in community, our happy hour on Wednesday, September 30th at Joui W**e. Visit our website to find the link to register.
