There’s something special about the way music can bring people together.

We’re still reflecting on a wonderful afternoon at the Care Dimensions Hospice House on the Waltham/Lincoln line, where patients and families enjoyed a special performance from the Longwood Symphony Orchestra.

The orchestra, made up of members of Boston’s medical community, including Denise Lotufo, PT, DPT, OCS; Lisa Wong, MD; Shirie Leng, MD; and our own Rich Parker, MD, shared their music and reminded us of the comfort, connection and joy that music can bring.

We are grateful to everyone who helped make this afternoon so meaningful for our patients and families.

A message from our President & CEO, Stephanie Patel, MD, MBA, FAAHPM, HMDC:

During my years as a hospice physician and Medical Director at Care Dimensions, and now as President & CEO, I've had the privilege of walking alongside thousands of patients and families during some of life's most difficult moments.

One lesson has stayed with me throughout my career: planning ahead is one of the greatest gifts we can give the people we love.

When families have discussed their wishes and put plans in place before a crisis occurs, they are often able to spend less time making difficult decisions and more time simply being together. I've seen firsthand the peace of mind that thoughtful planning can provide.

That's why Make-A-Will Month is so important.

Creating or updating your will isn't just about financial planning: it's about providing clarity for those you love, making your wishes known, and leaving a legacy that reflects your values.

Nearly every family will need serious illness care at some point. If Care Dimensions has touched your life or reflects the values that are important to you, I hope you'll consider including us in your estate plans. Together, we can help ensure compassionate care and extraordinary support are available for generations to come.

Having trusted resources to turn to can make the planning process easier. That is why Care Dimensions has partnered with Thompson & Associates, LLC, a nationally recognized leader in estate planning and charitable giving, to offer complimentary resources to help individuals and families think through their personal, financial, and philanthropic goals.

If you'd like to learn more, our team would be honored to connect you with these planning resources. Please contact us at [email protected].

Galo, the longtime owner of Putnam Pantry Candies, Ice Cream & Cafe in Danvers, spent his final three weeks at the Kaplan Family Hospice House surrounded by family.

For his children, Wendy and Eric, Care Dimensions provided more than expert hospice care. It gave them the peace of mind to focus on being together, knowing their dad was in compassionate hands around the clock.

“My dad said the Kaplan House is ‘kind of halfway between the hospital and heaven.’”

Today, Galo’s family continues to give back through Putnam Pantry’s annual Ice Cream for Breakfast fundraiser, helping Care Dimensions provide that same support to other families.

Care Dimensions recently welcomed our friends from the Longwood Symphony Orchestra to the Care Dimensions Hospice House on the Waltham/Lincoln line.

Known as the orchestra of Boston’s medical community, the Longwood Symphony Orchestra brings together healthcare professionals who share their love of music with the community—including Care Dimensions’ very own Rich Parker, MD.

A special thank you to Denise Lotufo, PT, DPT, OCS; Lisa Wong, MD; and Shirie Leng, MD, from the LSO, and Rich Parker, MD, for filling our hospice house with music and bringing smiles to our patients, families, and team.

Care Dimensions is grateful to share their belief in the healing power of music, with music therapy offered as a complementary therapy to support comfort and quality of life for patients and families.
