Attention Danvers Special Education Parents: DESE is asking for our feedback!

All Massachusetts public school districts undergo an Integrated Monitoring Review (IMR) of their special education and civil rights programs every three years, as required by state and federal law.
Danvers Public Schools is currently in its scheduled review cycle, with the DESE IMR team visiting during the week of March 23, 2026.

Parent and caregiver input is an important part of this process. Families can participate by completing the DESE parent survey and/or scheduling a 30-minute interview with the IMR Chairperson, Gillian Lange. See info below:

Survey link sent from DESE to parents/guardians of students with IEPs on Feb. 12 & 22. Check your inbox!

Contact to schedule parent interview:
Gillian Lange
IMR Review Chairperson
Office of Public School Monitoring
781-338-3246 or [email protected].

So far, Gillian reports a strong response from Danvers families, with 78 parents already completing the survey. Let’s show how engaged Danvers special education families are in our children’s education by making our collective voice heard. Please complete the survey now!

Additional info:

When asked Danvers SEPAC asked the DESE team about how parent input is used in the review process, the IMR Chairperson shared that feedback from families helps guide the monitoring process by ensuring that parent and caregiver concerns are considered. If survey responses highlight a particular issue, DESE may look more closely to determine whether further review or a formal finding is warranted. Information shared through the survey and parent interviews is anonymous and treated as confidential.

In advance of the School Committee's FY27 budget workshop tonight (live on DCAT right now), Danvers SEPAC urged SC members to give careful consideration to special education funding needs.

This is the final year of Student Opportunity Act funding. It is a critical moment to secure sustainable supports for Danvers students with disabilities.

Belonging and excellence are inseparable. We hope the FY27 budget reflects that truth.

Coming soon! We’ll be sharing ways families and community members can support special education funding and advocate for students across Danvers.
