As one of the oldest rural life museums in the country, The Farmers’ Museum in Cooperstown, New York provides visitors with a unique opportunity to experience 19th-century rural and village life through demonstrations and interpretive exhibits. The museum, founded in 1943, comprises a working farmstead, a recreated historic village, the Empire State Carousel, and a Colonial Revival stone barn listed on the National Register for Historic Places. The museum preserves important examples of upstate New York architecture, early agricultural tools and equipment, and heritage livestock. Its collection encompasses over 23,000 significant historic objects ranging from butter molds to carriages, hand planes to plows.

THANK YOU to everyone who visited, explored, made memories and spent a little time with us this season! Whether you joined us for a special event, stopped by to see the animals or simply enjoyed a day on the farm, we're so grateful you made us part of your year.

While we're officially closed for regular daytime hours, the fun isn't over just yet...

Follow your guide by lantern light through the Historic Village, where ghostly tales, eerie encounters and a few spine-tingling stories await.

Tours depart at 5:30, 6, 6:30, 7, 7:30 & 8 PM. Each small-group tour lasts approximately 45–60 minutes.

Fenimore Farm and Country Village is excited to announce OPEN AUDITIONS for "Dickens Nights 2026," an immersive village experience that’s part of our December "Glimmer Nights" light show. All roles (with the exception of the lead) are open! Everyone is welcome to audition no matter their age, gender, or prior experience level! In-person auditions will be held on Thurs. Nov. 5th and Sat. Nov. 7th, and video auditions will also be accepted. Performances will be on the evenings of Sat. December 5 and Sun. December 6. All performing actors will receive a stipend of $100. Full details are at the link below!
