📬🦁 Neither snow nor sleet nor dark of night… shall keep our lonely eyeglass mailbox from receiving your old glasses! 👓✨

Tucked away in the lobby of Bassett Medical Center sits a very special mailbox with an important mission. The Cooperstown Lions Club eyeglass collection box may look a little lonely at times, but every pair of glasses dropped inside can help change someone’s life.

The Lions Club collects donated eyeglasses, hearing aids, and cell phones, then helps refurbish and redistribute usable glasses to visually impaired individuals both locally and around the world. A pair of glasses that may have “run their course” for you could become the gift of clear sight, independence, and opportunity for someone else. ❤️

And while you’re supporting a great cause, come see us at the Military Classic Hall of Fame Game at Doubleday Field on May 23! ⚾

We’ll be set up selling brand-new quality sunglasses at heavily discounted prices, with every dollar raised going right back into our community through charitable causes, scholarships, vision programs, and community service projects.

So stop by, say hello, support local, and maybe even find your next favorite pair of shades. 😎🦁

Look good. Do good. Support local.

The Lions beat today’s rain by getting this memorial tree planted yesterday! 🌳🦁

This year’s District Project honors the Lions who have passed and celebrates the incredible dedication and service they gave to our communities throughout the years. The project was established in memory of FVDG John Wynn, whose message continues to guide so many of us:

“Service is our journey; the journey is our destination.”

If you’re passing through town, take a moment to stop by and reflect on the many Lions who gave so much of themselves in service to others. The memorial is located directly across the street from Bruce Hall on the south side of Main Street.

Please enjoy these pictures from the tree planting, and thank you to everyone who helped make this meaningful project possible! 💚

Last week, our Lions Club was proud to do a good deed for our community by helping maintain the cleanliness of Route 28, from the Federal Credit Union up to the transfer station.

Together, we collected over six hefty bags of garbage along the roadside. A big thank you to everyone who helped out and gave their time to make a difference.

This is something we do 2 to 3 times each season because we care deeply about keeping our community clean, beautiful, and something we can all be proud of.

🎬 The Cooperstown Lions Club Presents: Lessons From 100

Join us for an unforgettable evening at the National Baseball Hall of Fame on Saturday, May 2 from 6–8 PM.

This award-winning documentary is not a “home movie” about one family—it’s something much bigger. It’s an inspiring journey through the life of a man who lived through the Great Depression, served during World War II, endured the loss of his only brother and later his wife of nearly 70 years… and still found a way to embrace life fully.

His story isn’t just about longevity—it’s about living with purpose.

As a proud Lion for over 72 years, his life of service to others is a powerful reminder that meaning comes not just from what we achieve, but from what we give back. 🦁

🎟 Tickets: $25
Purchase on Eventbrite (search “Lessons From 100”) or scan the QR code on the poster.

Come be inspired—you’ll leave seeing life a little differently.

The Cooperstown Lions Club successfully hosted another Children’s Vision Screening on Wednesday, April 8, at the Cooperstown Library, following the library’s Story Time program.

Several local children participated and passed with flying colors, highlighting the importance of early vision checks. The screenings help detect issues such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, eye alignment problems, and early signs of amblyopia (lazy eye).

Thank you to all who participated and helped make the event a success.

Keep your 👀's peeled for the next screening—pun intended!
