🌻 Throwback Thursday — Summer of 2014! 🌱🦁

With the Cooperstown Lions Club getting ready to do some maintenance work at the Children’s Garden at Cooperstown elementary School, we thought this would be a great time to look back at our Lions lending a helping hand in the summer of 2014!

From building a pergola, repairing garden beds or pulling weeds and sprucing up this wonderful outdoor learning space, our Lions were happy to roll up their sleeves and make a difference. We’re looking forward to getting back out there and keeping this special little garden looking its best!

🦁 Another Successful Highway Cleanup by the Cooperstown Lions Club! 🦁

A huge thank you to all the Lions and Friends of Lions who volunteered their time and energy to help make our latest roadside cleanup a tremendous success!

Together, we collected over six large Hefty bags of garbage, helping to keep our roadsides clean and our beautiful community looking its best! 🌳🌎

It’s amazing what we can accomplish when we come together to serve our community.

Interested in making a difference? We’re always looking for new members! Please reach out to us if you’d like to join the Cooperstown Lions Club and be part of something special.

🦆 Throwback Thursday — Cooperstown Lions Club Duck Derby! 🦆

Circa 2013, going back more than a decade to one of our memorable Lions Club fundraisers: the Duck Derby on the Susquehanna River at Clinton Dam!

Hundreds of little yellow rubber ducks took to the water, racing down the Susquehanna while everyone watched and cheered to see whose duck would make it to the finish line first. It was a fun community event and another great example of the Cooperstown Lions finding creative ways to raise money and give back.

The Duck Derby was created by Lion Jason Tabor, and a very special thank-you goes to Jason for all of the time, energy, creativity, and effort he put into making this event happen. 👏🦁

Pictured here, from left to right: John Saphier, Jim Donley, Hren-Saphier, the hyper-creative Roberta Hohensee, and current Lions Club President Tom Hohensee — all still serving their community today.

Who remembers the Duck Derby? And does anybody still have one of those ducks? 🦆😂

We Serve. ❤️

Another Successful Year for the Cooperstown Lions Club Chicken Barbecue! 🦁🍗

A huge THANK YOU to everyone in our community who came out and supported this year’s Cooperstown Lions Club Chicken Barbecue!

Thanks to all of you, the event was a huge success! We are incredibly grateful to everyone who purchased a dinner, made a donation, volunteered their time, helped spread the word, or simply stopped by to support the Lions and our community.

This year, all of the money raised from the Chicken Barbecue is dedicated to our SNAP Match Program.

Through SNAP Match, the Cooperstown Lions Club helps local families who receive SNAP benefits stretch their food dollars further when purchasing fresh, locally produced food at the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market. The program helps put more nutritious food on local tables while also supporting the farmers and producers who make our community special.

That’s what makes events like our Chicken Barbecue so important: the money raised here stays here, helping people right in our own community.

We couldn’t do it without you. Thank you again to everyone who helped make this year’s barbecue such a success.

We hope to see you all again next year! 🦁❤️🍗

Special thanks:
