A page in the history books of Cooperstown and Troop 1254 BSA Cooperstown, New York has been turned with the passing of Helen Gannon, a long time Troop 1254 Committee member. Helen served many years in different capacities including Committee and Advancement Chairs. Perhaps most notably, Helen was a part of the original planning group for 1254 SuperTrip 1987 to the Grand Canyon. That original trip nearly 40 years ago began a tradition that continues today. Every two years the troop plans and executes a trip to an extraordinary location somewhere in the United States. Pictured below is the troop getting ready for it's second Supertrip in 1989 to Katahdin, Maine. Helen is pictured below, beneath the Troop flag circled in white. Her son Richard, a long time 1254 member and Eagle Scout is circled left of center. Helen's memory is a blessing. Her life was a significant contribution to many people in our Cooperstown community. Her obituary is linked below. http://www.cooperstownfuneralhome.com/2025/09/helen-w-gannon.html
