For Ari, building trust took time, patience, and one caring adult who continued to show up. 💙

When Jody became Ari's CASA volunteer, he was quiet and reserved, navigating multiple placement and school changes. But through consistent visits and shared experiences, Jody began to understand what mattered most to him and learned how to meet him where he was.

Today, Ari is taking meaningful steps toward greater independence, with Jody continuing to encourage and advocate for him along the way.

There are still children and youth in foster care waiting for someone to show up for them.

You can be that person. 💙

When you’re really struggling, having one trusted person to turn to can make all the difference. For many kids and teens in foster care, that person is their CASA volunteer.

This World Mental Health Day, we're shining a light on the many ways CASA volunteers meaningfully support the mental health of the children they serve. They do this each day by:

✨ Advocating for mental health services
✨ Practicing trauma-informed care
✨ Modeling a healthy relationship
✨ Being a positive adult in their life
✨ And so much more!

A DAF is a charitable giving account that allows you to set aside funds for nonprofits you care about. This DAF Day, consider supporting Child Advocates of Contra Costa County to ensure that children and youth in foster care have an advocate by their side.

On October 8, donors across the country are coming together to put their Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) to work and support the causes they care about.
