I had the pleasure of meeting Councilmember Carlyn Obringer on March 21 during the “Coffee with the Councilmember” event. It was a valuable opportunity to share concerns from the Afghan community, particularly regarding youth development and unemployment.

I also truly enjoyed connecting with both new and long-standing community members, and engaging with individuals who are working toward similar goals. Building these connections and fostering collaboration is something I am deeply passionate about.

I am pleased that today, through Unity to Serve International and with the financial support of Rota Foundation, we conducted a three-hour workshop for 17 Afghan women. The purpose of this program was to strengthen participants’ knowledge and capacity in Financial Literacy and Professional Career Building.

During the workshop, we discussed the importance of financial planning, income and expense management, saving culture, and the role of financial literacy in achieving personal economic stability. We also emphasized the importance of setting career goals, developing professional and communication skills, building professional networks, and engaging in continuous learning as key elements for success in organizational environments.

In addition, a three-year career development plan was shared with participants to help them gradually build their capacities and prepare for organizational roles and better professional opportunities.

This program represents an important step toward enhancing financial awareness, strengthening professional capacities, and increasing the confidence of Afghan women to participate more actively in economic and organizational spheres.

Today was a proud day as an educational and empowerment program was held in Sacramento, hosted by Unity to Serve International, with the presence of Ross Paterson, the CEO of XMPerformance, who kindly traveled from Texas to join us. This event was designed and implemented with the goal of enhancing the skills and capacities of Afghan immigrants in the United States.

Program Objective

The primary objective of this program was to provide scientific, practical, and evidence-based strategies to support the social, professional, and cultural integration of Afghan immigrants into American society.

This event played an important role in empowering Afghan immigrants and equipping them with the necessary tools to enhance their participation in the United States. Unity to Serve International remains continuously committed to strengthening the path of growth, integration, and long-term success of immigrants through educational and support programs.

We also extend our gratitude to all friends and colleagues who accompanied us with their presence and participation. Special thanks to Ms. Forozan Nikzad for hosting the event in her office; to Jamshid Soltanzada and Habib Jan Rahmani for coordinating this program with us over the past few months; and to Professor Faisal Karimi for his generous support with videography and photography.

I am deeply honored to share that we have officially established Unity to Serve International in California, USA!

On August 12, 2025, we inaugurated this movement of hope and action alongside our incredible donors, community partners, and friends, all united by one belief: that service has the power to change lives.

Unity to Serve International was born with a clear purpose: to walk beside Afghan immigrants and refugees as they rebuild their lives with dignity. Our mission is to empower families through economic opportunity, open doors to employment, and create a future where resilience becomes strength, and struggle transforms into success.

I am profoundly grateful to all our guests, partners, donors, and community members whose presence, encouragement, and collaboration made this milestone possible.

Refugees are not just survivors — they are leaders, dreamers, and builders of tomorrow.
