SMC Seats and Feet Drive for Tri-Valley Haven

HomeAid would like to thank BIA’s Sales and Marketing Council (SMC Bay Area) and everyone that donated Seats and Feet items to support Tri-Valley Haven at their incredible Co****le Tournament last week.

is a vital organization that serves adults and children who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, or homelessness in the Tri-Valley area. They create a safe place for individuals who need to heal and to be protected. For over four decades, Tri-Valley Haven has strengthened people’s lives, building a culture of personal empowerment for our most vulnerable neighbors.

Due to the building industry’s generosity, together we collected an estimated value of $1,322: socks (254 pairs), underwear (748), blankets (10), and pajamas (5).

An incredible donation that will help so many people. 💖🧦👚💖

New Study Tracks Rise of Homeless Children and Babies

We have found that data on babies and expectant parents experiencing homelessness are inadequate across key federal and state data systems. Nearly 86,000 children in California up to age 3 are estimated to have experienced homelessness in 2023-24, according to a new analysis by SchoolHouse Connection and Poverty Solutions at the University of Michigan.

Only about 12,000 of those children were enrolled in early learning programs. Programs where staff members are able to identify children experiencing homelessness and provide critical services key for their long-term development. Only 14% of the youngest children experiencing homelessness are enrolled in these programs, the state is not set up to accurately identify or even reach most of these children. While a key concern for parents is losing their child to the foster care system if they report their homeless status.

Solving infant and toddler homelessness requires action across early childhood, housing, homelessness, health care, and data systems. A key recommendation of the study is to offer specific examples and recommendations by local, state, and federal programs. The goal is to increase access to early childhood development programs and support services nationwide.

Donate Used Holiday Toys and Decorations Before the Holiday’s

HomeAid would like to encourage you to donate your children’s used Halloween costumes, toys and holiday decorations to local thrift stores so that families can purchase items in time for some holiday cheer! So often we wait until after the holidays to make room for new purchases and we flood thrift stores with used toys and decorations after the holidays are already over.

In thrift stores run by HomeAid Care Providers the residents are often allowed to shop for clothing and seasonal items for free, in time to celebrate with their families. If you know your family will be blessed with holiday fun this year, please consider donating items early so that our neighbors with limited income can make their child’s holiday special – plus it is tax deductible!

Not sure where to take your items, here are a few:
