Mission Statement

The Golden State Grind is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit sports academy dedicated to strengthening our East Bay community through youth baseball and softball. Our mission is to develop players to reach their full potential, both on and off the field, by providing the tools, resources, and support necessary for success at the college and professional levels. Over the past decade, the landscape of youth sports has undergone significant changes. Competitive environments and a win-at-all-costs mentality have often overshadowed the importance of morality, character, and sportsmanship. Founded in 2012, Golden State Grind was established to counter these trends with an emphasis on character development and skill-building. We believe that by doing things the right way, our players will develop the essential skills and character traits needed to succeed in life and sports. In a short time, Golden State Grind has achieved impressive success, competing at the highest levels and earning recognition for its expertise in player development. We are committed to producing not only skilled athletes but also leaders who carry the values of respect, integrity, discipline, accountability, and hard work. What We Offer:
• Comprehensive Baseball & Softball Player Development Programs
• Competitive Tournament Teams
• Exclusive College Campus Tours
• Specialized Baseball & Softball Camps
• Advanced Metrics Testing & Performance Analysis
• Personalized Lessons & Training Plans
• Nutrition Plans & Mentorship
• Pre-High School Player Preparation & High School Player Development
• Recruiting Assistance

At Golden State Grind, we take great pride in our Blue Collar Blueprint, a philosophy grounded in hard work, dedication, and excellence. Our experienced coaching staff, with collegiate and professional backgrounds, ensures players are given the best opportunities to grow. Through high-paced practices and a commitment to pushing players beyond their comfort zones, we help athletes maximize their potential and prepare for future success. Golden State Grind is more than just a baseball academy; it’s a community that supports athletes on and off the field, guiding them toward their goals and helping them thrive beyond high school and into the future.

GRIND HIGH SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT | 14U–18U
HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL IS DIFFERENT. YOUR DEVELOPMENT SHOULD BE TOO.

At this level, simply playing more games isn’t enough.

Players need purposeful reps. Advanced instruction. Strength and athletic development. Baseball IQ. Accountability. Competition. And coaches who understand what it takes to prepare players for high school baseball and beyond.

That’s what GRIND HIGH SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT is built for.

⚾ Professional baseball player development
⚾ High-repetition, development-focused training
⚾ Hitting, pitching, catching & defensive instruction
⚾ Position-specific development
⚾ Arm care, throwing development, speed & athleticism
⚾ Measurable performance and player evaluation
⚾ Competitive games, scrimmages, leagues & tournaments
⚾ Development beyond your school season
⚾ Opportunities earned through preparation, performance and consistency

For the player fighting to make the roster.

For the player working to earn a starting job.

For the player preparing for varsity baseball, college opportunities and the next level.

And for the player who simply wants to find out how good they can become.

We don't believe development stops when you make a team.

That's when the standard gets higher.

⚾ WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT FROM YOUR BASEBALL PROGRAM?

At DUBY BASEBALL, we believe being on a team isn’t enough.

Players need to be developed.

They need quality reps. Coaching that actually teaches. Individual attention. Competition. Accountability. And a clear plan for getting better.

That’s what DUBY BASEBALL is built around.

PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL PLAYER DEVELOPMENT.

⚾ High-repetition, purposeful practices
⚾ Hitting, fielding, throwing, pitching & catching development
⚾ Position-specific instruction
⚾ Speed, agility & athletic development
⚾ Measurable progress and player evaluation
⚾ Competitive games, scrimmages & tournaments
⚾ Coaches who teach and develop — not parent coaches
⚾ Playing opportunities earned through preparation, effort and performance
⚾ An environment built around accountability, confidence and baseball IQ

For parents, it means knowing there is a purpose behind the work.

For players, it means getting the coaching, repetitions and opportunities to become a better baseball player.

Whether your goal is to make your school team, earn a starting position, prepare for the next level or simply see how good you can become — development comes first.

🚨⚾ WE’RE BUILDING A NEW 8U TEAM. ⚾🚨

Not filling a roster.

BUILDING A TEAM.

DUBY BASEBALL is looking for young players and families who want to get in at the beginning and become part of something built the right way.

And we already have the right person to lead it.

Our new 8U team will be coached by a former college baseball player who grew up in our program, learned the DUBY WAY, and now gets the opportunity to pass it on to the next generation.

That matters.

He knows what we teach.
He knows what we expect.
He knows how our players are supposed to practice, compete and carry themselves.

Now we're looking for the FOUNDING PLAYERS of this team.

⚾ Players who love baseball.
⚾ Players who want to learn.
⚾ Players who aren't afraid to work.
⚾ Players who want to compete.
⚾ Families looking for real development — not hype.

AT 8U, WE ARE NOT TRYING TO BUILD LITTLE MAJOR LEAGUERS.

We're building the foundation.

Throw correctly.
Catch correctly.
Field correctly.
Swing correctly.
Run the bases correctly.
Understand the game.
Learn how to practice.
Learn how to compete.
Learn how to be a great teammate.

And most importantly…

MAKE THEM LOVE BASEBALL.

Winning matters. Competition matters.

But at 8U, development comes first.

We aren't chasing rings, rankings or trophies at the expense of teaching kids how to actually play the game.

We are building players.

8U → 10U: BUILD THE ATHLETE.
11U → 12U: BUILD THE PLAYER.
13U → 14U: BUILD THE HIGH SCHOOL PLAYER.
14U → 18U: BUILD THE NEXT OPPORTUNITY.

That's the pathway.

That's the DUBY WAY.

Professional structure.
No parent coaches.
Real instruction.
Accountability.
Development.
Opportunity.

And now we're looking for the first group of young players ready to start that journey together.

🔥 NEW TEAM.
🔥 NEW COACH.
🔥 FOUNDING ROSTER.
🔥 8U DUBY BASEBALL.

If your player is 8U eligible and you're looking for more than just another travel baseball team, we want to meet him.

Come practice with us.
Come see how we teach.
Come see how we develop players.

Then decide for yourself.

THE NEXT GENERATION STARTS HERE.

⚾ FALL ROSTERS FULL ELSEWHERE? YOUR SEASON DOESN’T HAVE TO STOP.

Missed tryouts? Didn’t make a roster? Looking for a better developmental fit? Or simply looking for more baseball, more reps and more opportunities to improve?

DUBY BASEBALL is still evaluating players ages 8U–14U.

We’re not interested in filling uniforms just to build another roster. We’re building players.
Players can be evaluated for current team opportunities or enter our Development Player Program, where they train within our system, develop alongside our teams and have the opportunity to earn promotion to an age-appropriate roster.

🔥 Professional instruction
🔥 High-repetition training
🔥 Individual player development
🔥 Measurable progress
🔥 Competitive opportunities
🔥 Year-round baseball

Our fall schedule combines scrimmages, games, tournaments, Winter World Series events and Winter High School Leagues to keep players competing while continuing to develop.

TRYOUTS & EVALUATIONS
📅 Tuesday • Wednesday • Thursday
⏰ 4:00–7:00 PM
📍 Duby Baseball Field — Concord, CA
⚾ Ages 8U–14U
📆 Year-round • By appointment

Can’t make those times? We’ll work around your schedule and arrange a private evaluation.

PLAY. DEVELOP. COMPETE. BELONG.

Your player doesn’t need another team promising exposure and trophies. They need the right environment, quality coaching, consistent reps and a pathway to keep moving forward.

DEVELOPMENT OVER HYPE. EVERY TIME.
