A slightly belated Happy National Dog Day! 💜

Today we’re celebrating some of the very important (and very adorable) members of the Equality Health Center family! The work we do can come with some hard days, and we’re pretty lucky to have these faces waiting for us at the end of them. 🥹

Give your furry best friend some extra love from us today! 🐾

This week, we lost two icons whose passing hits especially close to our hearts. 💜

Dolly Parton and Tim Curry each left an unforgettable mark on the LGBTQIA+ community and on generations of people who found joy and freedom in being exactly who they are.

Dolly Parton spent decades leading with love instead of judgment. As a woman of faith and a country music icon, she proudly stood by her LGBTQIA+ fans and championed love and acceptance. Glamorous, vibrant and unapologetically feminine, Dolly celebrated womanhood on her own terms and reminded us there is always room for a little more kindness in this world.

Tim Curry’s iconic portrayal of Dr. Frank-N-Furter helped make The Rocky Horror Picture Show so much more than a movie. It became a celebration of self-expression, sexuality, gender, camp, and being different. For generations of LGBTQIA+ people, Rocky Horror became a place to find freedom, community, and belonging, a legacy Curry recognized and was proud to be part of.

Their legacies are different, but both brought more color, joy, acceptance, and fabulousness into this world.

We’re sending so much love to our community this week. Hold space for yourself and for each other, and honor these icons in the best way we know how: be yourself, stand up for others, sing loudly, dance freely, and keep enjoying the art they gave us. Rest in peace, Dolly & Tim.

Today is Women’s Equality Day! 💜

August 26 marks the certification of the 19th Amendment in 1920, a major milestone in the fight for women’s right to vote in the United States. While this victory did not guarantee equal access to the ballot for all women, it became an important part of a much larger movement toward equality.

Today, we honor the strength of those who pushed for change, recognize the growth that came from their work, and celebrate the progress that continues to be made.

And as we celebrate how far we’ve come, we keep looking forward toward greater equality, greater opportunity, and the freedom for every person to have a voice in the decisions that shape their life. 💜

Well, we certainly do love a good dance break! 💃😂

But when she’s not showing off her moves, Cecile, our Billing & Insurance Coordinator, is here to help make the often-confusing world of healthcare billing and insurance a little easier to understand.

Whether you have questions about a bill, need help navigating insurance or Medicaid, or want to learn more about self-pay options and available funding for your visit, Cecile is always happy to help. 💜

Having an in-office billing person who can actually sit down with you, answer your questions, and help you understand your options is pretty great - the dance moves are just a bonus. 😉

This week, we bid farewell to our wonderful summer interns, Bella and Eve, as they head back to school for their sophomore year at Bentley and junior year at UNH!

Their dedication, passion, creativity, and hard work made such an impact this summer. They brought their humor and light to our TikToks and helped grow our online presence, created our online educational library, helped launch our new merch line, wrote the summer edition of our newsletter, joined us at Pride events, and took on countless other projects along the way.

We will miss having them here dearly, but we are so excited to see what comes next for them. We hope they continue to care deeply, use their voices, make a difference, and keep fighting for social justice wherever they go.

We are incredibly grateful to be able to offer student internships and play even a small part in supporting the next generation of advocates, changemakers, and community leaders. And while we're saying goodbye to their summer internships, we have a feeling this isn't really goodbye... our door is always open, and we hope to see Bella and Eve back at Equality again! 💜🌈

Thank you for everything, Bella and Eve. We are so lucky to have had you as part of our team this summer! 🫶

THE PEOPLE WE CARE FOR ARE THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE. 💜

These healthcare experiences are more common than you might think. Chances are, someone you love has needed care you may not even know about, a friend, a neighbor, a coworker, or a family member.

These aren’t just services. They’re part of the lives of people we know, care about, and love.

Healthcare is for all of us. And so are compassion, dignity, and nonjudgmental care.

Happy National Nonprofit Day! 💜

So, what does it actually mean to be a nonprofit health center?

For us, it means our work has never been about making a profit. It’s about meeting the healthcare needs of our community. It means being able to focus on the care our patients need, keeping services as accessible and affordable as we can, and continuing to show up even when that care is difficult to fund.

We do this work without operating funding from the State. With rising costs and an increasingly difficult funding landscape, we rely on grants, donations, fundraising, partnerships, the generosity of our community, and patients choosing EHC for their healthcare to keep doing what we do.

That community-powered spirit isn't new to us. More than 50 years ago, our founding mothers came together at the grassroots level, saw a need in their community, and decided to do something about it. Together, they created an independent nonprofit health center from the ground up, and more than five decades later, we’re incredibly proud to continue what they started. 💜

And today, we’re celebrating all of the nonprofits working every day to make their communities healthier, stronger, safer, and more connected. We’re proud to be one of them! 🧡

Let us level with you… 👀

There’s a LOT of information out there about birth control…and plenty of misinformation too. 💊✨

So, we asked our provider Lauren to break down the basics, answer some common questions, and set the record straight on a few of the misconceptions we hear all the time.

Welcome to Let Us Level With You, where our providers break down the health topics you actually want to know about and help separate fact from fiction. 💜
