Sharing our passion for civics!!
The inaugural iCivics NH Educator Convening on May 8 in Nashua saw teachers from all over New England gather for a day of free professional development and community building.

Our gratitude to 2023 NH Kid Governor Haydin Simmons and Mikva participant Ava Montgomery from John Stark HS in Weare for contributing their insights to an important panel called “What I Wish My Teacher Knew: Bridging Youth Perspective and Educator Practice.”

Many thanks to our all-star educator panel, including TWO NH Teacher of the Year winners - Megan Philbrook (2026) and Liz Duclos (2024) - school administrator Bonnie Painchaud, and NH Humanities consultant and retired teacher Dave Alcox, for their unique perspectives on the importance of teaching civics.

Finally, thank you to New Hampshire PBS, Open Democracy NH, New Hampshire Humanities, and the New Hampshire Bar Association for tabling with us onsite. What a great day of sharing and learning!

SPEAKING UP AND SPEAKING OUT!
Over 50 middle and high school students from across the state took part in yesterday's Mikva Challenge NH Youth Voice Summit at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at St Anselm College.
Students from Concord HS, Henniker Community School, Weare MS, McLaughlin MS in Manchester School District, and Pittsfield MHS came together to share their passion for topics including health care, civil rights, mental health, the economy, education, criminal justice, and more.

Thank you to our Community Partners Anna Brown of Citizens Count and the Rudman Center, Dr. Maria Manus Painchaud of NH Civics, and Peter Berg of AERO for their valuable support and feedback!
