The Center for Healthy Families Our purpose is to break the cycle of disadvantage that teen childbearing perpetuates through a holistic, coordinated system of community support.

Our vision is to be a catalyst for systemic change in the lives of teen parents and their children by not only what we do, but how we do it. For us, the means is as important as the end result. Breaking the cycle of disadvantage that teen childbearing perpetuates through a holistic, coordinated community system of support sums up the end result, and the means by which we plan to achieve it. Our promise is to build bridges to brighter futures for parenting teens and their children. Creating a model of support that can be replicated in other communities is part of our vision.

Yesterday was International Day of The Girl!

Observed every year on 11 October, International Day of the Girl is a global moment to celebrate girls everywhere, amplifying their voices, actions and leadership. It belongs to everyone who cares about girls and their rights. On this day, we come together to recognize and advocate for the full spectrum of girls’ rights.

This year’s theme was developed through consultations with girls, girls’ organizations and girl-led networks as well as civil society organizations and United Nations partners. Together, they called for urgent action to end child marriage and invest in girls’ rights.

The International theme aligns with our theme for our Day of the Girl Summit, “I’m Just a Girl,” Where our girls defined what girlhood means to them.

Day of the Girl provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the challenges girls continue to face around the world, including gender inequality, barriers to education, child marriage, and physical and emotional violence. It also serves as a call to action to invest in girls’ health, education, safety and legal rights.

We are just six days away from Day of The Girl! Over 300 young women and girls reclaim "I'm Just a Girl," defining what girlhood means to them at the 2026 International Day of The Girl Summit.

This year’s inspiring theme, “I’m Just a Girl. And That Changes Everything,” puts the extraordinary power, potential and leadership of girls at the center of the conversation. The event is designed to elevate the voices and agency of young women and girls and inspire a community-wide commitment to ensuring they have the resources, opportunities and support to thrive.

We are officially less than one month away from our 3rd annual Day of the Girl celebration! Follow along for more exciting updates!

Day of the Girl is based on a simple promise: elevate the agency of girls and young women and listen to them.

To those, many deem girls too young to make decisions for themselves or their families, to those who are being drowned out by generations of disparities and inequalities. To those who deserve the opportunity to pursue their full potential – we are here.

In May 2026, one young mother reconnected with The Center for Healthy Families with encouragement from her dedicated home visitor. Since reconnecting, her tenacity, determination, and love for motherhood have continued to inspire her journey.

Today, she has earned her GED and is pursuing opportunities to become an advocate on a mezzo level, using her experiences and voice to create positive change for others.

This is what our work is about. ❤️

At The Center for Healthy Families, we help pregnant and parenting youth build the knowledge, skills, confidence, and values they need to reach their goals, strengthen their families, and become leaders within their communities.

Her story is one example of what can happen when young families have the right support, encouragement, and resources.

✨ When we invest in families, we strengthen communities.

If you or someone you know is looking for an organization that can help you build the knowledge, skills, and values needed to move forward, reach out to The Center for Healthy Families.
