As founding members of the Columbus Education Justice Coalition, we are so proud of CEJC for winning multiple awards at last week's Honesty for Ohio Education 5-year anniversary celebration!

As an organization, CEJC took home the Community Impact Award. Additionally, Izetta Thomas, CEA member and lead organizer for CEJC was nominated 12 times for 3 different awards: the Community Impact Award, the Grassroots Leadership Award, and the Safe and Affirming Schools Award honoring a partner who champions the rights and dignity of LGBTQ+ youth and educators. Due to the number of nominations that Izetta received across various categories, the board and team members of Honesty decided to add an additional category just for her: The Honesty Champion Award.

The Honesty Champion Award honors an individual who leads with truth, integrity, and courage in support of Ohio's students. This award recognizes someone dedicated to advancing Honesty's mission.

Happy Juneteenth! Today we celebrate freedom day, the formal announcement of emancipation in Galveston, Texas in 1865. Juneteenth was finally made a federal holiday in 2021.
