Station 18 is one of the busiest houses in the city, and they’ve been dealing with these issues for far too long. Our members deserve better, and the community they serve deserves better.

South Linden Area Commissioner Wayne Mason said the condition of the station is frustrating for the community and the first responders who work there.

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

For some, this day is a vivid memory. For others, it is a chapter learned in a history book. Regardless of our age or where we were, we all share a responsibility to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Today, we remember the 343 members of the FDNY, 23 officers of the NYPD, 37 members of the Port Authority Police Department, airline crews, first responders, civilians, and the countless lives forever changed by that day.

We honor their courage, their sacrifice, and the resilience of a nation that came together in the face of tragedy.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Yesterday, Columbus firefighters responded to a house fire in the North Linden area. Despite a rapid response and the aggressive actions of CFD personnel on scene, one individual ultimately succumbed to their injuries. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, and all those affected by this tragic loss.

Columbus was hit hard yesterday, and when the storm came, Local 67 showed up. Our firefighters and medics responded to 1,126 runs in a single day — hundreds of families helped, countless lives impacted.

Their dedication, grit, and compassion for the citizens of this city never wavered. Columbus is safer today because of their work.

Proud of our brothers and sisters who continue to show what true public service looks like.

Local 67 members showed up Thursday at city hall because our voices need to be heard. The conditions highlighted in this report — failing equipment, unsafe stations, and years of temporary fixes — didn’t happen overnight, and they won’t be solved overnight either.

Thursdays hearing was the beginning of a long process, not the end of one. Our presence made it clear: the fight isn’t over, and we’re not backing down.

Columbus deserves a fire department with safe stations, reliable equipment, and staffing that matches the city’s growth as our members continue to step up every single day.
