Together SC is South Carolina’s only organization focused solely on supporting and strengthening the state’s nonprofit community through education, advocacy, communications, collaboration and leadership. We are comprised of 800+ members representing nonprofit organizations, business partners, associations, foundations and p

Behind every nonprofit mission are South Carolinians at work.

Teachers. Nurses. Counselors. Accountants. Case managers. Researchers. Fundraisers. Administrators. Artists. Program leaders. Technicians. Community advocates.

In 2023, South Carolina nonprofits filing the full Form 990 reported approximately 194,501 employees.

That means the nonprofit sector isn't simply part of our social fabric.

It is a major part of South Carolina's workforce.

Every one of those jobs represents more than a paycheck. It represents household income, professional expertise and people going to work every day to strengthen the communities we share.

Nonprofits don't just serve South Carolina.

Honor through service this September 11

This year marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11, and volunteers across the country are coming together to turn a day of remembrance into a day of action.

Here in South Carolina, you can be part of it! Volunteers are needed at the 9/11 Day Meal Pack in Charleston to help support a large-scale effort packing 189,000 meals for the Lowcountry Food Bank.

Members of Together SC’s Black Nonprofit Leaders Leadership Team were honored to attend the Black Philanthropy Month reception hosted by Central Carolina Community Foundation’s African American Philanthropy Committee.

The evening brought together donors, nonprofit professionals, and community leaders to strengthen relationships, celebrate Black philanthropy, and turn generosity into meaningful action across the Midlands.

We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many leaders committed to building stronger, more equitable communities across South Carolina.

South Carolina's Nonprofit Network is broad and statewide.

From Greenville to Charleston. Spartanburg to Beaufort. The Midlands to the P*e Dee.

Nonprofits are woven into communities across our state, responding to local needs and investing people, resources and expertise where South Carolinians live.

The 2026 South Carolina State of the Sector Report shows nonprofit organizations operating across all 46 counties, with thousands of organizations filing across the state.

And while nonprofit headquarters are concentrated in several metropolitan counties, the report makes an important point: an organization’s address does not necessarily show the full reach of the communities it serves.

South Carolina’s nonprofit network is broad, interconnected and essential to our statewide infrastructure.

The report identifies Charleston, Greenville, Richland, Beaufort and Lexington as the five counties with the largest number of filing organizations, while also cautioning that headquarters-based IRS data can understate nonprofits' reach into surrounding and rural communities.
