You may have recently seen Maxwell Wolf at Silhouette Stages in The Crucible, but this role of Johnny is not anything like the Reverend he played then! We asked him a few questions to get to know him and his character.

"What is the most challenging—or most rewarding—emotion you have to tap into for this role?"

Regret. Johnny does a lot of stupid things in this show. He hurts the people around him, including himself. In turn, the city chews him up and spits him out, leaving him right where he started; alone and unmoored. during the finale, Whatsername, those emotions are on full display. It’s an interesting emotion to tap into after spending the entire show being flagrant and self absorbed.

"What is your go-to 'angry' song when you need to blow off steam?"

Killing in the Name of by Rage Against the Machine. Turn that song on full blast and i’m unstoppable

"What is one thing your character is searching for that they haven't found yet?"

There’s a lot Johnny hasn’t found. I would say the biggest is a sense of purpose and belonging. He’s filled with delusions of grandeur, believing he’s above those around him. By the end of the show, he’s at his lowest point. My heart truly believes that Johnny will find purpose one day. but before he does that, he has to learn to love and respect himself and those around him.

"In three words, how would you describe your character’s 'inner riot'?"

Rage, Love, Discontent.

Where did we find all this amazing talent who have not been on our stage before? Honestly, we have no idea! But we are so excited for you to see Ryan New as Will in American Idiot. Below Ryan answers a few of our cast introduction questions.

"What is your go-to 'angry' song when you need to blow off steam?"
“Break Stuff” by Limp Bizkit

"In three words, how would you describe your character’s 'inner riot'?"
Heavy, conflicted and complicated.

"What is one thing your character is searching for that they haven't found yet?"
His direction for the future.

"What is the most challenging—or most rewarding—emotion you have to tap into for this role?"
Tapping in and out of a depressive state to embody Will has definitely been a challenge, but one that has taught me more about myself both as a person and as an actor.

"If you could describe the energy of this cast in one word, what would it be?"
FERAL.

"What has been the most 'rockstar' moment for you during rehearsals so far?"
One of the moments that has stuck out most to me is how quickly I bonded with my cast mates, especially my boys from Jingletown, Maxwell and Terin.

"Which musical number in the show gives you the most adrenaline?"
It HAS to be Jesus of Suburbia. The one that kicks it all off.

Come kick off the run of our show and see it this weekend! American Idiot has shows through June 28. Get your tickets at https://ci.ovationtix.com/35499/production/1248345

We are thrilled to welcome another newcomer to the Silhouette Stages stage! Geneva Croteau plays Whatsername in American Idiot, but trust us, you will remember her name! We asked her a few questions to get to know her and her character a little bit better.

"What is the most challenging—or most rewarding—emotion you have to tap into for this role?"

Anger. I’m a pretty optimistic, happy go lucky person so playing that side pushes me a little. It can be a draining emotion but a cathartic one too.

"What has been the most 'rockstar' moment for you during rehearsals so far?"

Letterbomb! It’s a total punk rock girl band moment and I love the release of feminine rage.

Come check out this feminine rage for yourself! American Idiot opens Friday and runs through June 28. Get your tickets at https://ci.ovationtix.com/35499/production/1248345

🎸American Idiot cast introductions continue today with Tyler White. Tyler is joining Silhouette Stages for the first time and plays St. Jimmy in the show. Let's get to know him and his character a bit.

"What is your go-to 'angry' song when you need to blow off steam?"
I know it's already come up, but House of Wolves has definitely been my choice song to scream in a tunnel to for a while. The chorus is just SO good to belt out.

"In three words, how would you describe your character’s 'inner riot'?"
Rage, Love, War.

"What is one thing your character is searching for that they haven't found yet?"
A home.

"If your character could send a postcard back home from the city, what would the one-sentence message be?"
"Having so much fun without yooou.."

"What is the most challenging—or most rewarding—emotion you have to tap into for this role?"
There's certain vibe of desolation that St. Jimmy has to him that I've found circles back to longing for something far beyond his limited understanding as a manifestation. It's something that even now I'm still figuring out.

"If you could describe the energy of this cast in one word, what would it be?"
Savage.

"What has been the most 'rockstar' moment for you during rehearsals so far?"
DEFINITELY the first time we ran St. Jimmy in it's entirety. It's such a sudden, fast-paced introduction to the chaos about to ensue, and I was TOO excited to jump in and start bouncing around.

🎸🗽We are so excited to welcome Minnie Gregorini to our stage for the first time in the role of Heather in American Idiot! We asked her a few questions to get to know her and her character a little!

“What is one thing your character is searching for that they haven’t found yet?”
Peace. Heather fights to find so many things for herself in this show: autonomy, stability, love, partnership, strength— but the one thing I think she needs the most after the dust all settles is peace.

“What is the most challenging— or most rewarding— emotion you have to tap into for this role?”
I think answering with “the anger” that Heather feels is too easy: the most rewarding emotion for me is actually the sense of dignity I felt for both myself and for Heather after her turning point in the show, once her anger has passed. It’s an emotion I once fought to feel for myself, and it’s empowering to put that on stage.

“What has been the most ‘rockstar’ moment for you during rehearsals so far?”
The first few times Scott and I did “Rock and Roll Girlfriend” felt so electrifying both in music and blocking rehearsals, because we have such a great dynamic with the way our parts fit together, and we just have so much fun with it that when everyone cheered for us afterwards, I remembered why I decided to get back on stage after 10 years.
