For our second book club this month, we’re reading Bodies on the Line by Lauren Rankin, and Lauren will be joining us LIVE for a Q&A!

Bodies on the Line tells the stories of the people on the front lines of the fight to protect abortion access. Including clinic escorts, activists, and organizers working to keep abortion care accessible in an increasingly hostile landscape.

Let’s clear up a common abortion myth: abortion does NOT cause infertility.

What can threaten fertility? Untreated infections, particularly those associated with unsafe abortion care or delayed treatment because people are afraid to seek care due to increased threats of criminalization.

Abortion is safe. Abortion is common. The problem isn’t abortion, it's misinformation, stigma, and barriers that keep people from accessing the healthcare they need when they need it.

The Turnaway Study followed nearly 1,000 women for five years and found that people who had abortions did not have worse mental health outcomes than those who were denied abortions. Relief was one of the most commonly reported emotions after abortion.

People deserve space to process whatever they feel without turning those feelings into "evidence" that abortion should be restricted or denied. Complicated feelings are human. They are not a reason to take away someone’s ability to make their own decision.
