This story yet again highlights the systemic failures in our country’s reproductive healthcare system. This isn’t just about a single case, it’s about the ways in which our states must acknowledge and commit to addressing the failures within our current reproductive healthcare landscape.

That work is needed not just in South Carolina, but across the South and throughout the country. This individual was failed by their state’s healthcare system and is now facing charges of assault and neglect.
