We had a great time at our Wear Orange Summer of Peace yesterday at Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation. Our Peace Flowers committee distributed free plants to community members. A number of other Peace Fellows also came with their organizations to offer services to families affected by violence. The power and beauty of community was on full display!

Next week, Terence Keel, will be giving two talks promoting his new book, The Coroner’s Silence: Death Records and the Hidden Victims of Police Violence. Through rigorous research–including critical records analysis, public health studies, and interviews with victims’ families–the book unmasks the systemic failures within forensic medicine. Keel shows how incomplete autopsy reports, mishandled medical documents, and strategically lost evidence effectively shield law enforcement from accountability.

Hundreds of Chicagoans gathered for the inaugural 103rd Street 5K Peace Walk/Runs and sparked a conversation about how vacant lots along the corridor could be transformed into restaurants, gyms and community centers.

This Saturday, May 16, 2026, Chicago comes together on the Far South Side for the 103rd Street Takeover — a community walk, run, ride, and festival celebrating the people, places, and possibilities of the 103rd Street corridor.

We are activating the full stretch of 103rd Street — from Corliss High School to Julian High School — moving through Rosemoor, Roseland, Fernwood, and Washington Heights.

This corridor connects us every day. On May 16, we move through it together.

This is a community-led, corridor-wide effort bringing together residents, schools, organizations, local businesses, and leaders — aligned around unity, visibility, and shared investment in our neighborhoods.

In partnership with Chicago Peace Runners 773, this moment bridges the West Side and South Side — uniting communities across Chicago as we kick off a summer rooted in peace, connection, and shared purpose in the best city in the world.

Join your fellow Chicagoans for a morning of movement, music, and community pride. Walk. Run. Ride. Connect.

The finish line culminates in a community festival at Julian High School and Culture Canvas Café & Art Gallery, creating space to connect, celebrate, and continue building a culture of togetherness.
